A California police officer is under scrutiny after he locked himself in the backseat of his patrol car with a woman on the way to county jail in August 2023. Bodycam footage shows a fellow San Diego officer coming to then-Officer Anthony Hair’s aid and freeing him from the backseat. Law&Crime’s Sierra Gillespie breaks down what happened next.

An internal investigation into the incident found that Hair violated a number of policies and laws for his conduct. Hair’s body camera was also not recording while he was in the backseat with the arrestee. The woman told Hair she was “down to f**k right now” as he was transporting her to jail. Minutes later, Hair found himself in the backseat and unable to open the door from the inside. He was in the backseat for more than an hour before a supervisor opened the door. Hair is no longer employed with the San Diego Police Department.

  1. Before body cameras this happened all the time. Paid in taxes jobs are fake jobs. This guy is just going to transfer to another paid in taxes job.

  2. 20:53 was he still sorta a new cop because an experienced cop would always know the door locks behind you in the backseat? It’s just hard to fathom he is truthful.

  3. once the girl started speaking, I lost it. I can't understand anything she's saying and why does she talk like that? she's so annoying.

  4. I don't care how fine a female may be, there is absolutely NO way I'm going to throw away my career and reputation over a piece of *ss. This guy thought with the wrong head to say the least!
