Paul Giacopelli, 60, was an anesthesiologist who used medications that he brought home from work to drug and sexually abuse the nanny to his children. Giacopelli pleaded guilty to two felony charges in Putnam County, New York after confessing to the crimes. Law&Crime’s Angenette Levy talks with former sex crimes prosecutor Sarena Townsend about how the nanny helped catch Giacopelli in the act in this episode of Crime Fix — a daily show covering the biggest stories in crime.

  1. Kinda sad she had to take matters into her own hand and provide video evidence. Glad she was able to get proof and get him behind bars.

  2. This is very triggering for me. I was SA’d by a male OBGYN. The witnessing female nurse did NOTHING
I just sat there afterwards and cried in the parking lot. Also, this man DELIVERED ME AS A NEWBORN.

  3. The Nanny is a rock star for keeping her head clear enough and being strong enough to get the evidence. i pray that she does not have any long term health, mental or emotional issues from this.

  4. Instead of saying that he “brought the medication home from work,” let’s call it what it actually is: theft. He stole medication’s from his place of employment, the same medication’s that he would have billed a patient probably thousands of dollars for.

  5. I love to hear what Sarena Townsend has to say. I knew she was going to say 4 years was definitely not enough. This makes me hope I never need a surgical procedure again. People are getting sicker and sicker in the head.

  6. Medical students have been allowed to do pelvic exams on patients under anesthesia without their consent in most states — with many doctors fighting legislation to change that. Federal guidance AGAINST this practice was only issued in April of THIS YEAR. This story isn't shocking when you consider these sorts of "norms" and "ethical guidelines."

  7. also, he would just leave his home with his nanny unconscious? What if his special needs children woke up and needed her or if there was an emergency at the home?!

  8. She must be a Brand new attorney. She sounds like it. And imo is long winded. Does not speak as if she has a college education. And isn't carefully choosing her words professionally but rather blanket it recklessly in disguise as "imo".

  9. He's 60 years old, has been an Anaesthesiologist his whole adult life… and yet nobody is considering whether this is a lifelong pattern of behaviour?!

This level of entitlement doesn't normally only appear at age 60, does it?!!

Also… the implication of his supposed 'Chloroform fëtîsh' is that he's been sěxûălly arọųsed at work for his entire career…
…which makes this 'defence' somewhat shortsighted, to say the least…
