Dad of Murdered Woman Speaks Out on Accused Killer’s Bond Failure – Everything Law and Order Blog

Lauren Johansen was found dead in the back of her own car at a Mississippi cemetery in May. Her boyfriend, Bricen Rivers, was arrested and charged with her murder. Rivers had recently been released on bond in Tennessee after a domestic violence arrest while the couple were on vacation. The two companies who helped Rivers make bail are now coming under fire. Law&Crime’s Jesse Weber spoke with the victim’s father, Dr. Lance Johansen, about his loss, the suspect, and the warning he says officials ignored.

  1. The father needs to speak out on how many times, as he said, over the years he this guy beat his daughter and she took him back.
He needs to speak about how he and the rest of the family, and her friends, accepted him back each time.
The father, mother, other family members and her friends who knew of the abusive relationship, and HER are equally responsible for her death.
I am willing to bet he called her after his latest release, from Nashville, and she willingly met with him!
She wanted a bad boy, got one, then paid the price!

  2. So much negligence on so many people’s parts. The system failed her and her family. Every person who made any decision in regards to the process of him leaving jail should be held accountable. And the fact that he was given bond AGAIN is insanity. Stop giving bail to criminals with evil crimes!

  3. This young women's blood it ultimately on the hands of the judge. She should be in jail and previous cases examined for incompetence. The bond companies and parents have a part of this as well. They should all serve time. If there was a ever an example to be made of incompetence on the part of the judge, the bond companies, Freedom monitoring and his parents, this is it! So heartbreaking and should have never happened.

  4. This is horrible but none of those people are going to apologize to Lauren’s family because that would mean they are accepting responsibility and we all know no one in the judicial system is going to do that.
RIHP Lauren😢 Praying for Lauren’s family to find peace and comfort while pursuing justice for their beloved daughter and sister ❤❤

  6. What a tragedy for a beautiful young woman who had her whole life ahead of her. The system is broken, and the judge who let him go is as guilty of murder. Without his permission to let the demon go, he wouldn't have had the chance to murder. Therefore, the judge needs to lock them up too.

  7. Crazy thing is. Blackburn is one of the strickest judges here in Nashville. I personally dealt with her with my own case and she's very no nonsense. But Nashville has some of the most laxed laws and they don't like to hold people in jail especially with how over crowded the jail is here

  8. Wow that clerk really dropped the ball to say the least. There needs to be some kind of double verification method implemented before letting someone out of jail, so human error doesn't result in precious life lost. And ideally someone like this wouldn't receive bond at all…. how the heck is he still getting a bond opportunity yet again.

  9. So pretty sure the judge is the problem. When judges are held to account for the decisions, then the system will change. It wont until then. Theres absolutely no accountability

  10. The court clerk that didn't put the bond conditions – that person screwed up big time. I've seen it happen first hand, and it happens far too often. I get that they have a lot of cases, but they need to figure that out because this beautiful young lady was taken far too soon, in a beyond disgusting manner, because the clerk didn't put down the information that was crucial. The judge deserves jail time, also. Lots of screw ups, and now this family has lost the light of their world.

  11. Judges should be accountable! And this is not the only who is not capable of doing this job and presiding over cases!
The system needs to be fixed, errors like this should not be happening and it's about time that victims come first.
