Diabetic Girl’s Parents Neglected Her Until She Died: Cops – Everything Law and Order Blog

Alice Bredhold, 12, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2020. Since then, her school nurse made multiple reports to the Department of Child Services in Indiana, expressing concern that Alice’s blood sugar was consistently at dangerous levels. Alice died from complications of diabetes on July 4. Her mother, Ashley Bredhold, and father, Brent Bredhold, reportedly did not monitor if and when Alice was taking her insulin and told police they had run out of supplies, despite there being unopened boxes of insulin pumps in their home. Law&Crime’s Jesse Weber discusses the disturbing neglect allegations with prosecutor Dave Aronberg.

  1. Slightly off topic, and I understand that everyone grieves differently, but it often seems gross to me, when I see people post about their child passing on social media (especially when it's so soon, they're usually not even burried yet), and it feels extra yucky when there's emoji use.

  2. I'm a type one diabetic and have dexcom and if your sugar is low or high your phone will beep and beep until you turn it off. I can't even imagine how this poor baby felt. Sleeping like they explained is a huge sign of something bad about to happen. My heart aches for this baby girl. Rest easy sweetheart

  3. The girl should have been responsible for herself, shes 12, and after hearing the supplies were in the house, the parents did not fail to provide. The parents might have not been proactive enough, dont you think the sentence they already have is enough?

  4. People always tell me my fife little ones are 'just cats'… My babies are better cared for then this child was. No matter the cost. They are my chosen family and I would do and pay anything for their well-being.
