Everyone is talking about Established Titles. Is it a scam? Or is it just a gag gift? I actually did a sponsorship deal with them a year ago and had to go back and investigate after the uproar in my comments.
Thanks to Scott Shafer for coming on my channel and sharing his investigation. Watch his video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2W2TJZYHsw
My wife did this for both of us. She knowingly did so that its not a legal title, but its a fun thing to add to a wall for memories to share with family and friends. So i am happy with the gift.
See the number of trees planted according to them, and the number of plots sold. Ok, so? It matches, right? Yes. For one tree-planiting organization. But they are supporting two of them. Something is off.
I work for a credit card company. As far as my company goes, you can 100% have your name be Lord Pleasant Green on the physical card itself. The physical card doesn't have to be your legal name, it can be a nickname or something like that. But you would NOT be able to have Lord Pleasant Green as the LEGAL name on the account and official documents. Everything like that has to be whatever your real legal name is.
Have you seen what it costs for a football top these days 🙂
So legally fine print is a cop out it’s how you hide legally binding info to trick someone, personally this shouldn’t be legal if it’s legally binding information it should both be legible and easily findable on the page. If it’s not in 12-14pt font it’s not legible enough for most of society. If you can’t read or find very very very important information then the information in question shouldn’t be legally binding. No, this does not mean that just because you didn’t read you get to skimp out on it being binding, instead it should be reviewed and decided whether said information is available to be found within a timely manner and then determined to be binding or not. This is probably not perfect but we should devise a solution to prevent people from hiding things that are extremely scummy and borderline scammer level agreements in text that is deliberately super long and misleading
So it's like paying a billionaire money to say you own his house, and he takes your money and gives you a piece of paper that says you have his permission to say you own his house, but is laughing behind your back.
So I'm paying for some small shady company to wholeheartedly claim I'm a lord and give me a certificate? I could do better and ask my friend to give me a certificate claiming I own Jupiter.
I just want to build a castle on my plot…a Lego castle.
It is also not clear if owning land in Scotland by itself qualifies you as a lord. By that measure there must be several millions of them.
Just tell the bank that your pronouns are Lord/Lady
When they originally came out, many years ago the commercials actually said you get a small amount of land and actually showed the amount of land you get and that they planted a tree in that small plot of land
It doesnt say you own the land…its an Honourific title…u get to visit the manor, its a good laff
Haha! Did you ever see the SNL skit with Mike Myers? " If it's not Scottish, it's CRAP!"
I'm confused. Do Dr's have it on their driver's license that they are Dr? Because the banks excuse made no sense.
If you live in the United States titles of nobility are against the law with the exception of Esquire
The sponsorship is 100% a grift. But, who cares? You're purchasing a legal title. Takes a couple of dipshits that feel themselves entitled, then realize they purchased a legal title.
Bet there's some full skull, purple hair, that visits their plot.
6:01 what your surname isn't Dover?
you lied to those scammers you lied!!!! 😝😝😝
You could have just watched Legal Eagle… an actual lawyer who talked in detail about this. No other random YouTube videos were even necessary whatsoever.
And idk why you thought you could add Lord to your credit card. This is a TITLE. That’s like putting Doctor or Nurse or Professor on your credit card. Which obviously makes no sense.
Well, you could, perhaps, adopt it as a song for example my sweet Lord! Oh darn it some rodent or insect did that first guess it was a beetle. George, the beetle well, George wasn’t really a beetle. George was a beetle group. Member wasn’t actually a beetle, but he did pin the words to a song, my sweet Lord, so how’s that?
I dont think that actual Lords, have the word Lord in their name on bank cards etc.
Its a title, and its written on another place on the passport.
The bank card most likely never have "Lord" or "King" on it.
The title of lord or lady (marquess, Barron, earl, Duke) can only be passed down by family members who either got the title from their parents or were granted the title by his Majesty the King.
Lord Benjamin Dover: IMO any reasonable person wouldn’t seriously think that you would become an official/legal “Lord” In Scotland or anywhere else.
It’s all just for fun and in addition it’s a pretty good conversation starter! 🤪🤪🤪
Lord Bend Over!
Didn't Heavy D Sparks promote this also?
same thing with buying parts of the moon or naming a star… its all nonsense.
What about the new zealand musican
Damn, I want to be a Lord
Jesus is Lord 🙏✝️
There was a similar business that claimed they’d name an actual star after you for some amount of money. It turned out, the name/star you paid for is just a certificate.
It seems like they have updated the website quite a bit, to show the actual land ownership. (Including the ability to enter your plot #) I wanted to get one but, half of me still believes it is really a scam. I don't know who to trust.
Very interesting
It's 2024 and I still call myself Mrs Anderson 😂
I love Scott
5:28 – She wasn't looking into it. She was trying to not to pass out laughing, and all the other support staff were standing around doing the same.
@pleasantgreen I bought one as a gift and don't feel scammed. Recipient enjoys and still has fun with it
😂 the certificate is not a legal document – anyone could print off something like that at home 😂
Reminds me back in the 90's when you can buy your own star and have it named after you or someone else you plan to gift it too.
I remember that one and i dont understand how people actually believed them. I knew it Was novelty but they Did sell it as real. I just figured anyone who backed it was fake. At least you did the due dilligence and follow up. Lord?🙄
This is like the “star registry” ads that claim you can name a star, but it’s not legal or official at all.
Youre like the exact opposite of a psychopath. you seen unable to express any negative emotion or reaction to anything whatsoever, even when its deserved.
Usually thats a good thing, but your overy neutral response to this scam rubs me the wrong way.
Damn!!!! so money can’t be made with Scottish lords or Nigerian princes??!!! What is this world coming to???!!
That's why I like the caribou beer company in Canada as the teamed up and planted 15000 trees from 2010 to 2011 and why id always buy a case as 1 case plants 1 tree lol i was being a good alcoholic
I still see some big YouTube's promote this and every time even if it's a smaller one and they happen to not know I let them know it's a scam
When are you going to come into the mainstream and illustrate books featuring black people.
I’ll go build an ant hill 😂😂😂
