100% had to do with race LOL. As someone who grew up and lived through this sort of treatment plenty, I know it when I see it.
How can you say this has nothing to do with race? How do you know what the business owner and cops are thinking? I was treated the same way at my first job even though I was a manager, all the older white men STILL tested and messed with me everyday. Would run to HR if I said anything back to them. Would raise their voice and do what ever they could to try and get a reaction out of me, without a doubt if I had done ANYTHING they would have played the victim and called the cops.
They assumed a black man stole their item and did not have enough empathy to get to the bottom of what happened. Had it been a white guy they would have taken a second to try and understand what was going on. That goes for both the police and business owner.

These officers aren’t qualified for their positions. The average person would have been historical after being “detained “, taken to the police station to be questioned and held for several hours.
