A former police officer murdered his wife and shot his two daughters at their Indiana home on August 12. Thomas Joseph Nolan, a former Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department reserve officer who retired in May, shot his two daughters inside the home and fatally shot his wife in the backyard before turning the gun on himself. Both of his daughters survived the disturbing attack. Law&Crime’s Sierra Gillespie discusses the tragic case with retired NYPD detective Tom Smith.

Wow, what a crappy episode 👎
I keep waiting for this story to come out with Trey Morrison as the perp…
Excusing his actions with what he saw at work? This is crazy talk. He's already defending the psychopathic aggressor only because he's one of them. It's insane
Just another yt trash nothing new you can’t handle the job go flip burgers 😅😂
He prob had mental issues prior to joining the job. Usually why they choose the job. Also everyone has some sort of mental health issue. I do think he broke down but they feel way too sorry for him and not his family.
I hope the Law&Crime Network people listen to these comments. This video was supreme disrespect to the victims.
Version: betrayal
Some her questions are nuts, how is this gentleman going to answers like he is was in the middle of the issue?
There is no excuse , we all go thru bad things and we dont kill our families
She drove him to do it obviously
Why does she ask the stupidest questions???
This lady asking too many question of assumptions. Kinda annoying because obviosuly the door is open to so many possibilities and under investigation.
Anywyas this is sad case, may the mother rest in peace 🙏
I suffer from multiple illnesses and I would never kill a loved one or any other person
What's up with the voice 🤔😬
I know a personal best friend of Ashley’s. It was years of violence, abuse on every level, manipulation and gaslighting on his part. I’m not sure why he’s being highlighted more than her and her sweet girls.
No in-video ad!! I'm shocked
Why are they making it seem like it was okay because he suffered from PTSD? This is sickening listening to this guy defend him
Former cop tries to off his wife and kids, you spend the entire video talking about how stressful it is to be a police officer and no time at all talking about the prevalence of dv among police officers…
A lot of jobs are very hard. It's never an excuse. Why did we spend so much time talking about that part of this case?
Detective going on like the dudes not to blame, I work in law enforcement and don't go batshit crazy, psychopaths exist in all walks of life
That cop is just trying to take up for this man. It doesn’t matter what you seen. I have seen some pretty messed up stuff in my life. I’ve seen people shot in the head. I’ve seen babies dead, and I would never in my life. Think about hurting somebody for nothing, I would never never in my life hurt my loved ones. I would leave before I did anything like that. It just goes to show. Cops are not to be trusted..
Crazy how it’s automatically assumed it’s mental health from being a officer! These are demons not mental health! Stop making excuses for these demons!!!
This lady asked the dumbest questions ever.
Remember, before lesbians took over as the leaders of DV in this country, cops had the championship.
Female host….cover ur boo£s….this is legal/ crime time, not Friends….or Tinder.
I’m sorry but I can’t stand this interviewer with all the “is it possible” questions with the most OBVIOUS answers. I cringed everytime
Why make excuses for this behavior? Terrible
Indiana needs to start auditing their Police Department they need some serious help I think there's some anger issues that Fester through there
10:37 so they’re going to blame the wife for her getting murder 😅
10:36 I find it crazy that they’re not using his mug shot, they keep showing the picture of him in police uniform 🤦🏾♂️😑😅 he murder his wife and tried to murder his daughter why are you trying to pretty up his image 😅
0:39 then get another job or be a desk, operator, or meter cop lol there’s so many positions at the police department why is he defending a killer just because he’s a cop 😅
0:25 there’s no such thing as a Perfect anything 😅and we all should know that
what if he got a paternity test and found out his two daughters werent his. . . .
This video seemed rushed by Law&Crime and had few facts in order. It is fair to question everything at this time, but not necessarily in the video the way it was done here. Whether the wife or killer husband had something going on outside of marriage, it's not the story right now. This man had some real issues and took a life of a beautiful woman and tried taking the daughter's lives, too. Let's get to the full story and details later when those become available before making this cop a victim and totally speculating what occurred. This should have been an 8-10 minute long video instead.
Uhm, that former cop almost became a family annihilator. That was his intent when he shot his girls. I would've liked to hear more about the victims than the retired cop who attempted to kill his whole family. This piece only told me they don't have enough info so they spent all this time talking about all the possibilities (excluding the one where he could've always been an abusive husband?)
Why are we taking the officers side on how this maybe happened ? How about he was inane and sick in the head
Someone check on thus dude's family. Him sitting here making excuses for a family annihilator is concerning. It almost sounds like he's building his own defense.
Mental health issues dont give you any right to murder or attempt to mirder anyone….
This is an utterly disgusting take on a man who shot at his own little girls multiple times. Evil speculation after evil speculation. This was a beautiful, wonderful, devoted mother , daughter and sister, now gone from her equally wonderful daughters' lives. (The girls went "from victims to witnesses"????? They are motherless, fatherless and badly injured from gunshot wounds….they're no longer victims in your opinion????)
Exactly why I don't trust cops now smh.
What kind of person becomes a cop anyway? There’s nothing here to be surprised about.
Bet she was cheating and wanted a divorce, would've taken house, children, alimony, child support, and she would have blocked him from seeing his kids. All from the hoe-bag handbook.
Cops have the highest rates of cheating and domestic violence rates of any other profession.
I was confused until almost the end of the video about where the abuser was. Nowhere in the 1st 5 minutes or description of the crime scene was there a mention of the perpetrator being unalived.
Then later she mentions that there's no one to prosecute and I'm like, what? Did i miss something? I had to rewind and no, they're was no mention of that. Finally at the end she says in a quick nonchalant manner that he unalived himself. Was his body at the scene too? Or did he run and when caught or confronted, he took himself out? No context whatsoever. 🤷♀️
So arguments or “whatever took place prior” justifies offing your whole family? These cop groupies are the worst.🤦🏽♂️
Usual suspect…smh!
This commentary though…..disturbing. I can't believe @Law&Crime Network went through with this bizarre victim-blaming interview and then decided… it's great journalism -let's post it! Him saying… "Now, the daughters; now they're not victims, they're witnesses…" …to help pin down what this 'poor' cop most definitely had to have gone through to commit this heinous crime/family annihilation (attempted, I mean🙄) ……and it just kept going on and on and neither of you thought to check yourself? Scary
Retirement sometimes brings out the noncompatability in a marriage.
It’s kinda gross y'all are trying to figure out what these 3 ladies did to trigger him.
