Daniel Riley, a 22-year-old man, has been convicted of assault and armed criminal action for his role in a devastating car crash that left Janae Edmondson, a 17-year-old visiting St. Louis for a volleyball tournament, with life-changing injuries. Edmondson was standing on the sidewalk when two cars collided, slamming into her. The impact was so severe that both of her legs had to be amputated, forever altering the course of her young life.

In the wake of this tragedy, the Edmondson family has filed a lawsuit against not only Riley but also the city of St. Louis. The decision to take legal action comes after the family discovered that Riley had violated the terms of a previous bond on numerous occasions, amounting to dozens of violations. Law&Crime’s Jesse Weber sits down with Dan Morgan, the managing partner of law firm Morgan and Morgan, to discuss the merits of the lawsuit. They delve into the legal implications of Riley’s prior bond violations, the potential liability of the city in ensuring public safety, and the avenues available to the Edmondson family as they seek justice and accountability for the catastrophic injuries suffered by Janae.

  1. These judges need to start being held accountable, and then they will think twice about letting those who reoffend walk free without consequences.

  2. name these judges assigned to the case. The general public have a few choice words for them based on their actions. Since judges are too lenient…

  3. I don’t need to watch the whole clip but I know it’s the judges fault for their ridiculous sentencing outcome, these days the Judges are as criminals as as the perpetrators. They feel bad for the victim however doesn’t realise the extent damage the poo did to victims & society.
