The families of two women who died in the homes they shared with Missouri fire captain Robert Daus are demanding answers. Grace Holland’s shooting death was ruled a suicide in 2020. Then in January 2024, Sarah Sweeney was found unresponsive. Family members of the victims say Daus had a history of abuse toward both women. Law&Crime’s Jesse Weber analyzes the two investigations with former sheriff’s deputy Chad Ayers.

  1. @LawAndCrime stop being so desperate for stories! Any time you have to say "We need to know more", you should pause the production. Until proven guilty should go for public opinion too….

  2. The fact they didn’t turn over this case to another department after the call and him saying the boys in blue would protect him to me is a sign they are doing EXACTLY THAT

  3. I think assuming he did it because the odds are bad isnt the intelligent thing to do, as is assuming he didnt. One needs to keep themselves non-biased & open to hearing any & all facts so that justice may be done, not someones version of it, but the closest thing to it as possible. I have no idea, speaking truthfully, how a man who looks like this tool managed to pull 2 beautiful women, either. My mind is blown, there. Ick.

  4. The call he made to report Hollands murder was a perfect confession… was spoken perfectly minus three sub word of, 'its ok because'. Add those words to the pointless statement he made."… Im a police chief". Thats exactly the mannor he stated it. Let alone its obvious what happened, the fault lies on those local departments for the second murder

  5. Didn't have Robert parents who raised him? Didn't his mama ever say No to him? He seemed to have a bad upbringing, a toddler inside a man's body. He is by no means a man, he is a big baby. 🍼🍼🍼👶🏻🚼👣😂🤣😂

  6. I hope the local LEOs followed the rules of an investigation that being Rule #1 (Treat all death investigations as a homicide until proven otherwise). That means they conducted a thorough crime scene examination and completed GSR tests on both the victim and the boyfriend. Many investigations are lost at a poorly examined crime scene.

  7. That’s odd that she would refer to him as as murderer and continue to move into his home, if he told her. It is most likely he hadn’t told her. She was probably aware of it from other sources The fact she winds up dead is bizarre. The autopsy will give some answers; hopefully.
The other one. If I’m going to shoot myself, I’m going to use my dominant right hand. I don’t care if it was originally in my left hand. My natural natural movements would dictate me putting the weapon in my right and then shooting myself in right side.
With the ring, it’s a product of a contract in lieu of marriage. The wedding didn’t happen, it’s his ring.
Whether he murdered her or not, it’s a $20,000 ring. The ring easily could be stolen or lost.
I personally would have removed the ring, myself. I don’t want her family or anyone else getting the ring. They’re nothing to me.
