Hitman confesses to murder plot before killing happens – Everything Law and Order Blog

In this episode Crime Watch Daily Updates: Nancy and Chris Latham’s marriage was visibly starting to crumble. Chris made tons of money as a banker in Charleston, South Carolina, and Nancy was a socialite who moved in all the right circles. Chris, however, had extramarital affairs, including with his exotic dancer-turned-secretary, Wendy Moore. Chris and Nancy were splitting up, and that much was clear.

On April 5, 2013, a man named Aaron Wilkinson got pulled over during a traffic stop and revealed to police he was actually in town on a murder-for-hire plot. He and his co-conspirator, Samuel Yenawine, were supposed to kill Nancy and anyone who got in their way — including her daughters.

After confessing to the plot, Aaron was taken into custody and would eventually become the prosecution’s star witness.

Law enforcement officials arrested Samuel Yenawine, who also happened to be Wendy Moore’s ex-husband. Soon, Wendy was also taken into custody, but Chris wasn’t in the area.

Nancy helped federal agents locate Chris, and he was booked into jail.

While awaiting trial, Samuel committed suicide in his cell.

In 2014, Chris was convicted of using interstate facilities in the commission of murder-for-hire. A jury found Moore guilty of conspiracy and use of interstate facilities in the commission of murder for hire, solicitation of murder for hire, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.

Wendy was sentenced to 15 years in prison, and Chris to 10 years. Aaron pleaded guilty to federal charges and was sentenced to four years behind bars as well as 500 hours of mental health treatment. He’s reportedly out of prison.

In 2016, Wendy and Chris appealed, but the South Carolina court of appeals upheld the conviction. She tried again in 2021 and was released from federal prison in Florida in October 2021. Court records show Chris got out January 14, 2022.

Let’s take a look back at the case of a woman whose life was spared by none other than the man hired to kill her.

  1. The husband wasn't out of the area. He lived on Sullivan's Island. The idea that he was hard to find must come from the fact that our local cops wouldn't arrest him. She had to get the feds to charge and arrest him. Even though local LE knew what was happening they refused to arrest him bc he was a rich white man. Until Alex Murdaugh these men never got charged.

  2. He was not a father. He was a self serving psycho. I hope she got everything so she and her girls can hide away when he gets out. He'll be blaming her for having everything too and not himself.

  3. Either this man was a bit simple for a hitman, or he didn't want to do the act from the beginning and took the opportunity to say it all.

  4. Samuel's lawyer think he did not commit suicide 🤔 He states that when Samuel was found hanging in his cell, he was completely naked and covered in pepper spray. He had also been beaten by jail guards over an incident involving a cigarette 😳

  5. 24 years….it’s so sad. SO sad. That after 24 years of this woman raising his 2 children, keeping their social status in tact, she seems like the sweetest lady 🥺It’s a messed up world we live in where people just can’t take a divorce . And it’s usually over money. This guy didn’t even care about his daughters . That jailhouse call is CRINGE. He was lying to her 😂 he wasn’t trying to get her out of jail.

  6. Hired for murder who confess BEFORE taking horrible action should be set as good examples and never charge so that more people will confess and go seek mental help instead of getting punished for being honest, as crookedas it may sound.

  7. Evil enough to kill the mum but aading to kill the children 😳😳…like they were "things", just evil!! She's right it's NEVER going to be ok. Because the plan, thought is already there. If this guy was not stopped by the police..man, the mother and maybe daughter or both her children would be alive today. That's not ok…they should be out of jail
