Criminals only need your name, your number and a piece of personal info to try to trick you into paying a phony ransom.

  1. i'm sorry but she is NOT bright….. she literally said the reason she thought it was her daughter was "because she called me Mom instead of by my first name"…. uhhhh that's certainly not unique 🤣

  2. It’s wild how incredibly stupid these dudes are considering they manage to conjure up a plan to kidnap someone for ransom. Like you dummy you think she has any control over her cell phone connection? You want the money or not bro?💀

  3. this happend to me as a drug addict hen i came to denver to live as i was desperate i searched online for drugs .. someone talked me thru this same process had me get a gift card.. talked me outa the info … card was drained hile i was talking poof … they gone

  4. There’s also people who call telling you that you need to verify your identity on PayPal (or some other cash app) by buying google play gift cards & sending them the numbers on the cards, somehow proving your identity that way. If that ever happens, just hang up & report the number to the FBI. They’re scam artists that steal the money off the cards you buy. Had it happen to my Mom, unfortunately. They bilked her out of $1,200 before she came to her senses. 🤦🏼‍♀️

  5. I can't believe those thieves got the woman's hard earn money. I was hoping that she would alert the cops first before giving them the cash. Criminals, I tell you. Ain't nobody working hard again? All people do nowadays is scam and rob people. It is sickening.

  6. My heart goes out to her so much! I can't imagine how traumatic and threatening and scary this could be. I know terror causes us to ignore all the warning signs and things that seem questionable. As I unfortunately discovered, so does the simple anxiety of being sleep deprived and/or simply just being preoccupied and distracted with multi-tasking on a deceptive call. For anyone else like her and me who have been scammed by someone or had someone cheat you (in school or in love) or had someone downright take advantage of you, please take comfort in this one thought: the people after you are taking advantage to get something worth very little compared to the greatest treasure they will never possess. They might be successful to exploit you, leaving you scared, hurt or embarrassed, but share your story to help others become aware. Something very tragic must have happened to the scammers, cheaters, and abusers for them to do this in the first place. I believe wholeheartedly that they should be locked up, but the sweetest revenge is knowing that any blessings you have (loving family, comfortable home, health, hope) far outweigh what they took from you. In my experience, money does not equal your livelihood, your humanity, your love, and your connections hold far greater value.

  7. This segment is a great reminder that all parents and offsprings should have a secret password, for just in cases. I’m going to have that convo w/ my kiddo as soon as I pick them up from aftercare today! We’ve discussed it before, but it should really be more of an ongoing conversation, than a single discussion IMO

  8. I'm a little short on rent this month, but now I got an idea on how to make some extra cash…

Jk lol I couldn't ever do that but still

  9. My husband got a call like this. The guy claimed to have been in a car accident caused by our son & said he was going to hurt our son unless we gave him money. The guy was screaming. My husband screamed back & threatened to track him down & kill him. We drove home, our son was home and safe and then called the police to report it.

  10. I always wonder why every body is copying what was said earlier in the comment and magnify the same thing again and again. Somebody said this lady is Classy, the way she dress up, her lipstick, then everybody is echoing that.

  11. Who is gonna tell True Crime Daily that narrating with a deep/scary/dramatic voice doesn't make the narration better. What it does it actually make all of us CRINGE.
