‘I’m Scared’: CT Teen Allegedly Killed by Boyfriend After ‘Ride from Hell’ – Everything Law and Order Blog

A Connecticut teen died in a hospital two hours after her boyfriend dropped her off at home from a night of partying in May 2023. Authorities allege Cooper Ouellette ran over Sophie Ringquist with his pickup truck during a heated argument. Witnesses from the parties Ringquist attended that night said Ouellette kicked the 17-year-old, who had called multiple friends to get a ride home early and get away from Ouellette. Law&Crime’s Jesse Weber breaks down the evidence investigators recovered from Ringquist’s phone and the charges now faced by Ouellette.

  1. The Education of Young People in the area of Domestic Violence is Tip Top Important – There are more and more cases of DV in the teen to early 20 population than there were 15 years ago. The RISK is VERY HIGH and the Risk Of Fatal Injury Is Also High. If you EVER See a Young Person Strike Kick Bite Push Down etc their Boyfriend / Girlfriend – Please Say Something. Please go into a bathroom or out of sight and CALL THE POLICE. That Victim is Scared and Needs You ! That Victim May Not Know How Dangerous Their Partner Is Before It's Too Late. Also She Was Likely Beat Up in the Car – – It is not unheard of for Abusers to beat their partner next to them while engaged in driving – – where the person is in close proximity and cannot get away – – Her Injuries From That Beating Would Not Be Discernible from those of hitting the ground after getting out of a moving vehicle and certainly you are not going to know if she was beat up if she had also been run over. Terrible terrible horrible loss and last moments of life for this young DV victim.

  2. if she jumped out of the car @ 10 mph & she got ran over, wouldnt that imply that most likely he had to put his truck in reverse? unless she didnt jump out & instead fell out like someone being pushed would fall out and then got caught under his tire. and him going 10 mph means that it doesnt take him a whole football field to stop soooo???

  3. I have been in a DV situation. It took a lot to get out. I'm no longer in that situation, and life is so very different! Soooooo much happiness!! Relaxing! Get out ASAP!! YOU DON'T DESERVE TO BE TREATED LIKE THAT!!

  4. Once again, a case of domestic violence ending in death and once again no relevant information provided in the commentary.
Too often the victims are blamed for the harm that comes to them from a predictable pattern of abusive behaviour and this show does nothing but examine the defence of a drunk bully who KILLED a young girl. The fact that he got behind the wheel of the vehicle under the influence and someone died, is clear indifference, the added layer of an abusive relationship elevates the crime. Start actually bringing on people who know what they are talking about, or stop reporting on these issues.

  5. OMG, all this analyisis of the victim's actions, when in reality, she was probably terrified, sitting in a big truck roaring around at top speeds, driven by a "boyfriend" with a history of abusing her. She took any seemingly impulsive action to save her life. In the truck she's in danger, out of the truck she's in danger, and everything happening in a moment.

  6. This is really scary and tragic. Rest in peace to Sophie ❤

One time I asked my mom to take me home while she was drunk because I didn’t want to be around her, and didn’t want to walk several miles in the dark. She drove like a maniac up and down a steep gravel mountain and I begged for her to let me out because she crashed off the edge once. I ended up jumping out and my head hit the ground immediately, right as she was turning right. My head could’ve gotten crushed by the tire, and my brother thought it did. He seen it and screamed bloody murder and I got up quickly to reassure him I was ok. I had cognitive issues for years after that incident.
