Olea’s passion for the sport brought dozens of hardworking students to his “Flip Out Workout” gym. When parents of two female students raised concerns that Olea may have acted inappropriately, everything came crashing down. Olea now faces six counts of sexual battery after multiple former students spoke out and made allegations against him. I feel that males should only be coaches for male sports and vice versa. I really don’t understand why grown men would want to be coaches for women volleyball, gymnastics, swimming etc.

I coached girls high school softball and I was always very careful. I was NEVER inappropriate with the students. Never wore any T-shirts with inappropriate images. And I would not let them hug me… which they would sometimes want to do. And I would not give rides home to any of the girls. Although one day one girls missed her ride… I told her to catch a ride with someone else. Then I saw her walking on my way home. She said again… missed her ride. I immediately called the head coach (who was female) and explained. She told me to go ahead and give her a ride home… which was 5 miles away. It’s called CYA. I never took any chances.
I mean honestly, whether or not it’s “fair”, is it wise for grown men to be employed as gymnastic trainers for little girls?
Guess no one learned from Larry Nasar.
