Two Iowa parents were arrested after allegedly locking their four-year-old developmentally disabled son in a makeshift cage at their Hamburg home. Responding officers said they found the boy outside the home covered in human and animal feces. Dustin Carl Lee Perry and Lindsey Barbara Marie Hamilton have been charged with neglect and child endangerment. Law&Crime’s Elizabeth Millner breaks it down.

Being raised by a stepfather who wasn't kind AT ALL and that's putting it very lightly, I knew that's not the way children should be raised! That being said, he was abused by his own parents but didn't make the connection when it was his turn to be a father.
Now they'll be locked up in a cage.

If they couldn't care for them they could have given them up for adoption. So many couples would have jumped at a chance to raise them.
I have to wonder if they were getting welfare and that would be a free ride so they could not give that up .

It's called Lazy Parenting. The parents didn't want to care for the 4yr old properly, so they put him in a cage & forgot about him.

My aunt was born in the late 1930s as a down syndrome. She was loved and taken care of by my grandparents until her death at age 69. I don't understand stand people. 😢

How hard is it to give the child a bed and somewhere to play like every child deserves. My son is autistic and gets very hyper sometimes but to lock him away like an animal is unimaginable and disgusting

The strangers this child was left with had a duty to alert police. They are complicit in this as well and should be charged as accomplices.
This is most likely several felonies. Very sad.
Part of me thinks that it should be national news when these type of people get their “prison justice”. Every news station should share the inmate number of the inmates who take care of these monsters.

So many abusers & people neglecting kids & animals these days. I know it’s gone on for centuries & probably for as long as humans have existed, but the incidences definitely seem to be increasing. Something HAS to change & if that’s that parents require parenting assessment & training before they have kids, then so be it. Poor little guy. And while it looks like his sister was the favoured one in the photos, even if she wasn’t abused, she would have been exposed to his abuse & that damages a growing child’s brain.

The relatives that knew they were doing this should also be charged. If any relative of mine told me to watch their kids and keep them in their cages, I'd call the police myself!
