Justin Timberlake Speaks Out After Pleading Guilty in Drunk Driving Case – Everything Law and Order Blog

Pop superstar Justin Timberlake appeared before a Suffolk County, New York judge on Friday, months after an arrest in the Hamptons. Sag Harbor Police say Timberlake’s eyes were glassy and he smelled of alcohol during a late-night traffic stop. The singer had previously denied being drunk, but changed his tune during a plea hearing. Law&Crime’s Jesse Weber takes a closer look at the plea deal, as well as what Timberlake had to say outside court, with criminal defense attorney Mauricio Padilla.

  1. I’ve gotten a DUI brought down to a guilty plea of possession of an open container. No lawyer needed. I didn’t even need to do anything. I just plead not guilty at my arraignment and the persecutor threw that out there just to save time and money on a small issue. Always plead not guilty and force the government to prove your guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. At worst, you’ll just be found guilty of it anyhow as if you plead guilty, so it never hurts.

  2. Just cause he’s on trial doesn’t mean we need to stoop low and keep insulting him. Who cares if he’s wearing a necklace?! Give it up!! He has made very bad decisions yes! But let’s not hop on the “bash someone” train. I am not saying what he did is right at all!!! He very well could’ve cause deaths or injuries!! One more thing, did he even say sorry?! Once?!! I feel like this apology wasn’t sincere at all.

  4. Go to any bar in America, you think all those patrons are calling an Uber? 99 percent of them are getting into their own vehicles for the drive home or to the next bar. How about all those dads out there who take their families out to eat and order a beer? How about the tens of thousands who attend sporting events, half the crowd ends up drunk by the end of it, then hop in their cars to drive home. After decades of being told about the dangers of drinking and driving, so many people still do it without a care in the world.
