LIVE: Ballerina Murder Trial — FL v. Ashley Benefield — Day 4 – Everything Law and Order Blog

Former ballerina Ashley Benefield is accused of killing her husband, Douglas Benefield, in September 2020. The Florida couple were in the middle of a heated custody battle when Ashley shot Doug. Prosecutors believe Ashley murdered Doug so she could gain full custody of their young daughter, however, Ashley claims she shot Doug in self-defense after months of alleged abuse. The medical examiner does not believe Doug was facing Ashley when she fired off four rounds at him.

  1. She had it all planned out from the beginning. Sent mom and daughter to the park and had 3 loaded guns sitting around the house so she could get to one wherever she was at the time. There's always 3 sides to every story and he's not here to tell what really happened that night. Something I've always said once an ex always an ex because there was a reason you left to begin with. Praying for his family and both of his daughters as they go through life without both parents.

  2. Why did she need to read what she said in her PTO hearing? As a survivor of domestic abuse, I will NEVER forget what my ex did or need to read my deposition to “refresh my memory”.😒

  3. She wanted a kid so she used him to achieve that. Then she set him up and killed him for wanting a relationship with his daughter. She’s a spoiled brat use to getting her way.

  4. Doesn't make sense she has to read these text'd messages, she only has to answer questions about them, surprised her attorney allowed.

  5. When she listed her family values 😂 that was so scripted. She grew up a spoiled entitled brat she went to a school of arts. (Cough cough, actress) she made it seem like it wasn't so bad. She was probably the worst witness for her own defence 😂 not a single tear, while she was crying 😂 the worst acting I have seen the shaking while reminiscing then looking up for another question 😂

  6. No Tears? Does that mean she was NOT abused? Hrrrmmm…

Hey abused ladies out there… make sure you have blood coming out your eyeballs or people won’t believe you’re being abused! Is that what you are really saying?

  7. The State wants the prosecution side to do all their work for them! Come on lady, if defense gave you an exhibit 300 pages long then READ the 300 pages! Do your job. These two are just mean bullies!

  8. Miss Sweet should've been fully allowed. The full testimony.
She's very much is an expert and was involved. Outrageous that the judge dismissed it as irrelevant.
