Oddly enough I actually believe him. You can see the remorse in his eyes, you can see that he’s not ok with the fact he killed a man. You can also tell he’s extremely embarrassed of what happened. And I think any 15 year old on the stand would be too embarrassed to admit the truth also. I do not think he should’ve been charged as an adult at all! And it was self defense, he may not have been defending his life but he was defending himself from getting raped. If a female killed a man cause she had been getting raped every day for a week then she would absolutely get off free on self defense!!!
Truly believe these prosecutors have no heart they just want that ✅ for a win ! The jury knew nothing about that pedo but the prosecution did and they did not care. Mark did their job and saved countless boys from a life a torture!

I was 17 when I was sexually assaulted, and it took me a while to tell my parents about it. I will say this the shame, emotional toll, and embarrassment are overwhelming beyond words.
Can't believe that people put him behind bars, and I'm glad that the victim's family forgave him, but it's time for Mark to forgive himself

As a victim of molestation I believe him wholeheartedly! I was 10 and didn't say anything until I was 12/13 because of the embarrassment and shame I felt like it was my fault! He got away with it and went in to molest other children and I feel guilty because I couldn't get him put in prison 🙁 Karma will come for all the monsters that hurt children and this man even though he may not feel like it, is a hero and saved countless other children from being hurt ❤️ I Hope he can learn to forgive himself in my eyes he did nothing wrong.

This is a horrible story and This case seriously needs to be looked at again! What would I really have a problem with is the way that interviewer is trying to make it shameful for what happened. Why does she call the secret "embarrassing"? It shouldn't be embarrassing! This young man had nothing to be embarrassed about. There's nothing shameful about this. When something like this happens to someone it is wrong! And that should be enough to give them the power to speak up! They shouldn't be shamed!

This young man is more a saviour of other children than a criminal. What type of justice did his court give out when he was being tried? None. There are so many reasons why this young man should be free. It's a sick World when a young boy is not allowed to defend himself. This is an injustice that can and should be made right immediately.

That jury was not 12 members of his community! He was a boy, even parents don't believe their own children, why would the jury? How dare that DA say that! This man has nothing to lose and nothing to gain from telling his story. He knows he won't be believed and he's humiliated, so why would he lie? That poor man, you can tell he hasn't emotionally and mentally grown since he was 15. He should be out of prison now.

However disgusting the adult was, and assuming he's truthful, Berrios had the choice to leave (he doesn't claim to've been held captive) and go home and/or contacted police. There can be NO justification for homicide or murder. Furthermore, while Heppler was being investigated, he's innocent until convicted, so it cannot simply be assumed on the basis of some claims that Heppler was guilty. The mother is a disgrace stating she's proud.
So do we all agree if he had been a 15 year old girl who this had happened to he wouldn't have been charged with murder

I was homeless for a while when I was 18 and one night there was a bad storm and I was stuck outside, long story short two guys invited me to their apartment they fed me, were very nice but towards the bedtime they asked me if wanted to have sex with them…. I packed my things up and walked back into the storm. This world is scary and you can't trust people..
This is amazing. Even though they ruled not to have the pedophiles past or current investigation brought up the prosecution still knows. To say he wanted to rob him because of his troubled past and use his past against him knowing they were already investigating him is maddening. I cannot believe this!
