  1. You told this story with such substance. Bravo for that. I am sick to my heart for that young lady. I can’t imagine how much terror she felt. As a mother, I would never stop fighting to keep those murderers from seeing the light of day again

  2. The Indiana justice system stinks. Three of the girls never should have been given plea bargains. Only the one who didn't participate should have been given a plea bargain to testify against the other three whom I believe would have received the death penalty. And the 60 year sentence is a joke. They get one day off for each day they don't cause trouble. The prosecutor who claims he worked hard on this case was worthless.

  3. Every time I hear Shada’s story. My heart breaks. At least two of those girls Melinda and Laurie should’ve never got out. If I ever see them 👊🏽🤕 Amanda was the root of all this, she should pay too. It seems a mean girl murder happens every era, in the 80s, Missy Avila, 90s Shada, then Skylar Neese. Be careful girls. If you get into an argument or fight with a “friend” don’t ever go back to that friendship or meet them in an isolated place. All those 4 older girls were old enough to know right from wrong, these girls were evil. I came from an abusive childhood and never thought to take someone life in school, never crossed my mind, even though I had mean girl encounters and bullying. RIP Shada.

  5. I was disgusted to watch Laurie be interviewed and say how she felt as bad as Shandas mother and that she had to live with what she had done and it haunted her every January. She painted herself as as much of a victim as that poor girls mother. Absolutely repulsive and heartless. Pure evil.

  6. Disgusting they are out of prison. This actually reminds me of an episode of Cold Case, the old tv show. Just horrible. They should have all gotten life sentences no parole, horrific.
Edit: It's the prolonged torture. The fact she suffered so much for so long.

  7. this story breaks my heart every time i hear it, i live about 5 minutes out from where she was found. i’m always dropping off flowers for her. i pray for her family and the others hurt in this case🫶🏻

  8. I remember reading this book as a teenager. I was born in 1980, beautiful Shanda was a year older than me. One awful thing that stood out to me was when they took a break in the morning and ate a sausage biscuit at McDonalds, and made the remark that she was burnt like their sausage and laughed about it. I mean..just so barbaric and evil. How were they able to get released? That blows my mind.

  9. Yes Mt daughter entered middle school and she got into a small little fight with 2 other big girls🤬😡🤬🤬. My heart wanted to come OUt of my chest. I DONT WANT NOONE PUTTIMG THEIR HANDS ON MY GIRLS😡😡🤬🤬

  10. a truly sinister case, gut-wrenching and disturbing. but what is most upsetting is to see most of the perpetrators, including amanda, have little or no remorse and accountability for their actions. as much as melinda was the "ring leader" of all of this it does make me hopefully to see that she might have grown the most out of all of them, even more remarkable is shanda's mother, jackie who has more resilience and strength than any person should have to have. I am so moved by her ability to forgive melinda, and I wish her a life of peace and happiness – she deserves nothing more. I only wish that shanda's father, steve could have lived his full life, it feels so unfair that he was riddled with so much guilt when really he was not at fault in any way. I still wish that all of them served their entire sentences, the 20-60 years between each of them still felt like so little. I think all of them should have gotten 60 to life with no chance of parole.
