Being on school grounds after hours without being engaged in a school related activity or having prior permission to be there could be considered trespassing, thereby giving these officers full authority to detain this guy for inquiry.

So I guess he has the right to search the police cars on scene. I mean after all the cops parked there and then abandoned the vehicles to deal with him.
