Jessie Marie Peterson, 31, was admitted to Mercy San Juan Medical Center outside Sacramento, California in April 2023. According to a newly filed $25 million lawsuit, family members were told Jessie checked herself out against medical advice. In reality, she had died at the hospital and her body was placed in cold storage. Law&Crime’s Jesse Weber sits down with personal injury attorney Alea Roberts to discuss the lawsuit.

  1. What a perfect medical screwup coverup!
    This was NO mistake!!
I will never believe they have no record from the hospital or the storage place.
Seriously, no one noticed an extra body with her name on the records that travel with the body. Even if it is paperless! She was hidden for some creepy reason!!!!!

  2. No way. They went through too much to cover this up.. and clearly, SEVERAL people are involved. Someone needs to be held accountable, and a full investigation needs to happen. I'm sure this isn't the only time this has happened at that hospital. No excuses.

  3. This is so incredibly bitter: we see pictures of a young, vibrant woman with so much life ahead, and then she not only dies but is left to rot somewhere.
My heart is bleeding for her.

  4. This smells of all kinds of bs. That hospital is covering up something. That's why they waited so long. Many of the typical autopsy findings will be long gone by now. This is so wrong.

  5. I think its pretty obvious that someone messed up while treating her andshe died as a result .
So they lied to cover it up . Weather she died as a result of addiction or not the hospital must have missed something in their teatment and they had to cover it up.
The other question is why didnt the sheriff go to the hospital and request or supena the security footage to determine that she left or not .

  6. Well from someone who works there said .no one claimed the body. They tried to contact who she had listed on her records. No one showed up.When they eventually called the hospital it showed she wasn't there .miss communication. She was a drug addict. Which Cause the heart attack…

  7. So sad. Rip🙏 & love this attorney tho. She’s a firecracker. She’d have done well as a criminal attorney too!

  8. I worked for ensign and watched them carelessly kill pts and lie to the family members and the ombudsman and state refused to do anything about it except help cover it up! The state of California does not care it's sad

  9. How horrific! 😢 Why wouldn't the hospital just settle this, why go to trial? What excuse would they possibly have for her being in their storage facility for a year? I would definitely be questioning if they were trying to cover up the circumstances of her death.🤔

  10. I think the hospital should also have to reimburse any agencies, such as LE, for the financial costs of a year long missing person search!

  11. Im guessing an autopsy was not done or death certificate issued, but she remained in cold storage for a year with a Dicharged AMA medical record? How does this even happen with so many protocols in place? This is so nefarious, cant help but wonder why this happened? Were they hiding something else other than the mishandling of her death?

  12. Two problems here. One was outlined by your guest herself. Lawyers aren’t guided by a moral compass, it’s all about winning for them. She basically said so with her comment about the hospital taking a defensive stand on false medical records. A buddy of mine from university became a defense attorney. At a wedding years down the road he bragged how he got his DUI client that killed somebody under the influence off even though he knew 100% his client was guilty. It was all about the win for him.

2nd issue is our medical system is a joke and getting worse by the day. I rekindled my relationship with an old college flame. She was just finishing up her residency at the time. She brought up she was now an alcoholic due to the working hours and stress from the job. Her major source of stress was witnessing all the medical coverups of death caused by mistakes at the hospital. She said earlier that day a new hire improperly administered medication and killed the patient. The hospital team knew and covered it up.

The moral fiber of our country is having serious issues.
