Hailey Dunn’s mom Billie was the last person to see the teen alive on December 27, 2010. Then, Hailey vanished.
Billie’s boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, said Hailey was at a friend’s house, but when she didn’t return home, Billie became concerned. She reported Hailey missing the next day, December 28, 2010. Three days later, Billie and Shawn threw a New Year’s Eve party at their home while Hailey’s father continued to wait for his little girl to come back.
Suspicion of Shawn was elevated during a search of Billie and Shawn’s house when investigators reportedly found a trove of documents that delved into the lives of several notorious serial killers.
Police kept a close eye on the couple, and Shawn eventually became a suspect, especially after he failed two polygraph tests. But there was never enough to charge him — until recently.
On March 16, 2013, a hiker found a skull and femur bone on a trail about 20 miles away from Hailey’s home. Investigators located a tooth with the remains and used dental records to positively identify Hailey.
Eight years later, in June 2021, Adkins was arrested on suspicion of murder and tampering with evidence. He was booked into the Howard County Jail with a bond set at $2 million, then transferred to another detention center. Adkins allegedly hit Hailey in the head with an object, which caused her to die.
Adkins’ trial is scheduled to begin in April 2023.
The mother deserves life for laying with a monster and letting him around her children.
The only reason a “stepdad” would kill his step daughter is to shut her up so she can’t tell anyone about all the horrible things he’s been doing to her. Great job mum, what a pathetic creature she is.
Hailey was doomed from the start with the kind of upbringing and environment she was in.

When I turned 21 he cheated on her with a younger woman and left her . I forgave her and then he murdered her for life insurance money. She hadn’t changed her beneficiaries yet

Hailey's Dad is the only reason why Atkins is finally been charged. That Dad has fought hard and has teams of people investigating endlessly for evidence and the local LE to do their job.
Something not right with lie detector tests y would he tell them they should b looking at them cops can lie to u about tests but u cant lie to them sounds like both sides r not telling the truth on this one and its going to end up not being nobody in the family this case stinks right from the start these people r a pain in the cops ass it sounds like and they r putting answers in to close and solve this case i could b wrong but their is more to this one than meets the eye poor little girl we may never know who really did this small town cops should not b the ones to investigate this

No one wants to go out searching for there daughter, moms taking polygraph test under the influence and having new years gatherings while her baby is missing……this is BS!!! Lying to an officer for your child's KILLER is NOT "nothing"!!! She belongs in prison with him. He went home (from work) to assault her. That is WHY he went home from work. That is also why he LIED about being there and refused to open the door! He was trying to make it appear as if he wasn't there at the time she went missing.
