In a special three-part edition of True Crime Daily The Podcast, we take a deep dive into the wild case of Jose Lantigua, a Florida man who betrayed his family and friends, fled to the jungles of South America to fake his own death, and was finally brought down back in the U.S. in an elaborate international fraud scheme.
In part three’s conclusion to the case, host Ana Garcia talks with private investigator Richard Marquez about how Lantigua was ultimately captured. And what did Lantigua’s wife know about her husband’s plot?

  1. Part three and this woman has become utterly sickening… grinning and "crying" all the way through, yet constantly dabbing at perfectly dry eyes.🙄😑🤦 I hope investigators were not as gullible as she thinks the world is.
"A chance for love again"??? Come on Ana, you're smart & know better from experience that some folk are lured by money while others are looking for others to care & provide for them. Looking for financial security is not the same as looking for real love!🇨🇦

  2. How did this woman not know this is insurance fraud regardless of believing the ridiculous reasons he told her. Baloney. Oh and a safe room? RED FLAG!

  3. Just watch the original video of this from true crime, it's 10x better. Takes up about 1/3 of the time to watch and no pointless "podcast" format rambling.

  4. God that woman is so whiny and such a cry baby!! Stfu!!! No matter what she had to be a little conniving and manipulative too, in order to walk into the US Embassy, and federal court buildings and go along with this huge lie!! Maybe she just really liked the idea of getting all that money.

  5. most of the women on dating sites are fake, and the few real ones are gold diggers.
he found a real woman, and she found what she THOUGHT was a sugar daddy.
I DON'T FEEL ONE BIT SORRY FOR HER.

  6. I believe she was that clueless because he kept writing her because he knew he had a fish hooked. I also have a beautiful daughter who is very intelligent she had a 4.0 gpa and she has zero common sense, she thinks when she gets those credit card offers in the mail that say you have 5,000 that she got a free 5,000 ! It’s unbelievable that people can actually be brilliant in one part in their life yet totally ignorant in others but it’s true. And insurance adjusters are evil, they don’t take anything at face value so as soon as the guy Ana is taking to said they treat them all the same he was lying because they all look at your cases like it’s a lie because they are hired to save their companies money not give it away. I have personally seen this for myself after a catastrophic car accident that changed my life forever, insurance companies are 100% evil.

  7. This is so funny! Ana Garcia's face , interviewing the wife. Just total shock this woman believes these insane lies! (I think she did I mean come on people were believing Ikea was selling furniture with little children hidden inside! Lol)

  8. Richard Marquez,. I wish you would start your own podcast, "unbelievable insurance fraud"! I like the way you tell the story.

  9. She must have wondered why they needed such large policies, since he was supposed to be rich. Maybe he told her they needed the money for the future because he wouldn’t have his business income anymore. I wonder how much she got for her 5 karat engagement ring!
She must feel very betrayed forever wondering if he ever really loved her or if she was just his patsy. I had a similar thing happen to me, but at least I’m only out my $60K retirement fund. I had to scramble to start again.

  10. He, a conservative, used the conservative fear of “The Others aka Latino country” to manipulate his wife. He scammed her like one of those online romance scammers

  11. Daphne is culpable not gullible. She's very fortunate, she essentially got away with aiding & abetting this movie worthy escapade.
I have to comment that her son's & daughter's loyalty are beautiful although it may be to protect themselves from legal persecution.

  12. She probably thought that nobody would hurt his own children by telling them that he was ill and then letting them believe that he was dead, so that he must be telling the truth.

  13. If y’all believe the wife’s story and her fake tears, I have beautiful ocean front property for sale in North Dakota for a great price, message me for details. 😜😅😇
