    I'm 64-years-old, and I remember, especially back in the 70s when I started driving, it was very common to see young girls out hitchhiking. It would obviously NEVER be a good idea, as sometimes people become criminals "of opportunity." Maybe they didn't initially have anything horrible on their mind, but then they realize they have a female in their car, no one knows, and their mind begins thinking evil thoughts. If any girl/woman is out hitchhiking these days she's just asking for trouble. It's just a matter of time, and probably not much time at all.
