The jury for the Wisconsin river stabbing trial came to a unanimous agreement to find killer Nicolae Miu guilty on all charges of first degree reckless homicide, first degree recklessly endangering safety, and battery. Miu still awaits sentencing. Nicolae Miu, 54, is accused of stabbing a teenager to death, and injuring four others, while tubing on the Apple River in Wisconsin back in July of 2022. Isaac Schuman, 17, was killed and Rhyley Mattison, 24, suffered severe stab wounds. Miu is facing multiple charges including first-degree intentional homicide, attempted first-degree homicide, and battery with a dangerous weapon. Miu claims he acted in self-defense.

Why was this video so long?
He's insane though no?
Lying multiple times to police, then in the court was his biggest downfall. If it's self defense, just admit it outright!
He should've never taken stand. Kept saying he didn't remember so many times really hurt his defense.
Would have been nice if the verdict wasn't on the subject line…
In complete disbelief.. Florida thank you for standing up your ground law
Yep …. no surprise that he was found guilty. I think that two pieces of evidence really sunk him and will sink any appeal that he might have. The jury came back with a verdict relatively quickly if you ask me.
The first strong evidence was the video. It was easy to tell from the video that the kids were just joking around and using him for fun and laughs. His use of deadly force was uncalled for. At the most perhaps he could have gotten his revenge by hitting one of them which he actually did when he punched the woman. But to him that was not enough.
The 2nd thing was the jailhouse interview. He really came off as a terrible person showing no remorse. He was only concerned with himself. What would it all mean for him.
Add to that when he took the stand he just came off as a very unlikeable person. I looked for the slightest remorse in his voice or his expression. Essentially he seemed to now say, yep I did it and would do it again!
My advice to defense counsel:. Don't smile benignly in closing arguments while simultaneously trying to appeal to the jurors' lower nature, in an attempt to draw out latent feelings of hatred of "punks". Jurors most likely see through that tactic.
I am surprised his defense team did not enlist trauma specialist to explain behaviors that associated with someone who has gone through a violent episode. I think it could of helped explain his odd behavior, but too late now
This is the worst verdict I’ve ever seen. And for those who say he lied to cover himself, lying wasn’t a charge. Those kids were drunk, decided they owned the river and could make a game of terrorizing and playing with a lone ma. Place them on a street, change their skin color, maybe even take away Mr Mia’s accent, and I guarantee you would have a different outcome.
Justice served!
Judge calling out jurors names, smh, last but still
These kids should be charged too
They harassed and crowded this man,L for Wisconsin
While observing the trial over the past weekend, I assert that the behaviors exhibited by the individuals in question were unjustified. The repercussions faced by the adolescents stemmed from their own actions. Regrettably, the gentleman who acted in self-defense has already served a two-year sentence, which could be deemed a criminal act. If this incident had occurred in a jurisdiction with a stand your ground law, such as Florida or another state, it is probable that the case would not have gone to trial. Furthermore, he did not approach anyone who was not moving towards him. Therefore, in my view, it is unclear how these charges stuck! I have lost all faith in our justice system. This is a tragedy for both parties, but this judgment was made solely based on the age of the kids involved. What would have been the outcome if this man had hit his head and died when the kids pushed him over? That incident would have influenced my decision-making. Shame on those jurors for not considering that.
Disgusting outcome those kids should be on trial
NICOLAE IS INOCENT
Absolutely absurd verdict.
Nicolae is the victim.
Not these punks
Phew, how different these comments would be had these kids not been 'priviledged'
I feel sorry for Mr Mui, absolute disgrace that he is even on trial. Those teenagers and adults are the ones that are guilty, guilty of meaness guilty of lying and guilty of having zero kindness! Shame on them for lying under oath absolute disgrace. No honour no integrity, they should be locked up not Mr Mui!
Well, I hope those teens are happy. Their friend is dead and a man is in prison (guilty or not) because they wanted to have some fun
Apple River, wider than a mile.
oh, dream maker, you heart breaker.
I thought Wisconsin was a stand your ground state??
Am I the only one pisse the fack this video is 3 hrs long an has 3 mins of actual content or am I missing something???😮
3:14:22 look at those harrassing kids
Why guilty?
You do not have the right to defend yourself in Wisconsin, you will be railroaded and the full weight of the corrupt attorneys office will crush you without remorse, if you find yourself in a life or death situation in Wisconsin you may as well allow yourself to be killed and spare yourself a miserable life in prison, or beg at your attackers feet for mercy. Must be something in the cheese up there, I'm really curious about this jury, did they put themselves in Mr. Miu's shoes? To be convicted of first degree intentional homicide, there must be premeditation, planning to kill, you must show intent, how did they prove intent in this case? I am sincerely curious how the jury came to the conclusion that Mr. Miu walked up to those teens with the intent to murder them, at what point was this plan conceived and made manifest in the suspect's mind? All of these are interesting questions that should be answered, if the jury wishes to speak.
I don’t understand verdict already reached but not covered here?!
Wow, I’m so disappointed in this verdict.
I feel odd about this because I don’t believe it’s self defence but I don’t think that the State made out first degree
That jury should be ashamed of themselves I'd be embarrassed to call them my peers !
If this was in Florida he would be free. Stand your ground law.
