Officer Detains Auditor For Filming From 200ft Away – Everything Law and Order Blog

Welcome to Audit The Audit, where we sort out the who and what and the right and wrong of police interactions. Help us grow and educate more citizens and officers on the proper officer interaction conduct by liking this video and/or subscribing.

The various Circuit Courts of America have ruled multiple time that the right to film the police is protected under the First Amendment. Some officers attempt to use a widely misinterpreted 8th Circuit Court ruling to dispute that, which often ends up in a lawsuit.

This video is for educational purposes, and is in no way intended to provoke, instigate, or shock the viewer. This video was created to educate citizens and law enforcement officers on the civilian rights protected under the First Amendment, the rulings of circuit courts, and various interpretations of related case law. This video does not seek to demonize any party involved in this specific interaction.

  1. Their condescending tone and attitude when speaking to a grown person are so disrespectful. All cops think that everyone is stupid and doesn't know a thing of what their saying. I have two degrees, and I guarantee that a cop will speak yo me as if I were in kindergarten.

  2. The way the cop says his phone looks like something dangerous! That's how they get away with murder when they say well. It looked like a weapon, when in fact, that could be a toothbrush!!

  3. Here's the deal cop, you have no idea understanding the law or to do your job! Cops always seem to make uo their own laws to circumvent their ignorant and unprofessional behavior!

  4. I have grave concerns about the truth of police activity before cameras were everywhere.

The entire system banded together to protect the criminals who violently assaulted Rodney King, the first widespread videotaped police brutality case in LA.

It was later revealed that the LA county sheriff’s office was sheltering literal organized police gangs.

  5. The cops that harass people for filming stops are scarily similar to all the drunk drivers I see on bodycam channels – they all act consistently the same. "I live right down the street, I've only had 2 drinks about 2 hours ago." Vs. Leaving an already-in-progress stop or investigation and going "You're impeding my traffic stop. How am I supposed to know if you don't have a weapon?" Always the same lines for the same types of people.

  6. Actually, YOU took your attention off of your traffic stop. Did you investigate whether or not the person was dangerous or has weapons? Or did you just investigate a dog sniffing flowers.

    What a joke.

  7. I wonder if this guy has kids… He’s downstairs, eating breakfast (I’m assuming Weeties and a black instant coffee in a “World’s Greatest Dad” mug) and reading a physical newspaper… His kid comes downstairs to watch cartoons…

“Come here bud. What are you doing?? I’m here, trying to perform a breakfast-eating, and you come downstairs and sit in front of the TV, taking my attention off what I’M doing, because I don’t know what YOU’RE doing. Do you know how far an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile can fly??? I don’t k ow what you’re doing over there… You tell me you’re just watching Bluey, but you could be calling in a Nucular Attack (you know he says it that way).

Now, unless you want me to take the TV and send you to jail, you go back to your bedroom and stay there.”

  8. “But sir, the Supreme Court…”
    “Stop. Don’t interrupt me”
    “I’m sorry sir. I was just saying…”
“Stop talking! Am I letting you talk when you talk? I’m letting you talk. Now let ME talk!”

  9. The officer's instant hostility is concerning. His speech is condescending and belligerent. He stole the mans phone and his arrogance is amplified by his ignorance. If myself or any of my co-workers ever spoke to a customer like this we would be fired on the spot. This man should have no gun or badge. He needs a therapist, a pacifier and some diapers.

  10. USA need more cops like him, great work. Not allowed to talk, not allowed to film, needs to tell everything police wants to know. If every cop learns this type of handling U.S will be very safe place to live.
