  1. Update in the case .. Mr Revill and Ms. Garcia lost their case in which they claimed the deputy and prosecutor did not have qualified immunity. The state court ruled they did. However, they did win a verdict that said the qualified immunity that protected the deputy and prosecutor from criminal and civil charges for false arrest did not apply to the defamation suit Mr Revell and Ms. Garcia filed. This video didnt cover it but the search warrant was for pornography involving very young children. Right after this arrest and before the video stopped the prosecutor and deputy stood on those same courthouse steps and had an imromptu press conference in which the prosecutor bashed Mr Revill and Ms. Garcia for helping a predator that preys on children hide evidence and the deputy chimed in also and a bunch of other statements. Mr. Revell and Ms. Garcia filed a defamation suit. The district court found that they could be sued for defamation and that qualified imnunity doesnt protect against defamation. They appealed to the state appellate court and the appeals court ruled against them also. So basically cops can arrest you while breaking the law and still be covered by qualified immunity but if they make public nasty statements about you that are not true then and only then can you sue them for a monetary settlement.
