Ohio’s Tim Johnson case: Voice-stress analysis test nets suspects – Everything Law and Order Blog

“With the polygraph there are several countermeasures that a subject could do to basically manipulate the chart. They can control their breathing. Whereas with the CVSA there’s really nothing they can do to manipulate it.” More: https://bit.ly/3bxOcxM

  1. The man was a child rapist. He was the monster the raped his own sister’s daughter’s when they where just 3 and 2. Tim was the worst kind of person. Imagine being his victim and watching this and reading the comments. He will never be a victim to them. He will be the horrible man who destroyed and stole their innocence and is hopefully burning in hell where he belongs.

  2. I live in richmond about 20 mins away from here i didn't realize crime watch did a story on this and the nique case. Crazy, these are already interesting stories but the closer they get to home the more they captivate.

  3. When that women folds her arms the detective said it's due to defensiveness. Whike that might be correct it could easily have been due to her feeling cold. There is no one gesture which signifies deception. You need a cluster between 3 and 5, but even then, people can act strange in stressful situations so you have to careful not to jump to a conclusion to quickly.

  4. Everytime I think I've heard it all, another murder takes place. These people are truly sick! I almost believe if some of these so-called people would watch of these episodes they might think twice. To me it's pretty obvious no one gets away with murder, even in those scenarios where it takes years.

  5. It’s kinda wild that as soon as the detective shows her that she had deception in her voice analysis she just folded up like a lawn chair and told him “yea I killed him!” It was pretty chilling how she was so nonchalant about it

  6. To be honest on a psychological point of view, this episode seems like it's solely an add for the CVSA software. Using emotional trigger points to make an effective advertisement and at the same time get the public on board on it's legitimacy on it's accuracy. Personally I just think they got lucky using the software as an interrogation tool, for this I say well done catching those two killers. Nonetheless there are so many factors that a suspect/witness may be affected by (affected with respiratory issues, lungs/mouth,throat cancer, anxiety issues, mental conditions, subjective individuals) would disqualify the test, as stress in voice happens to the innocent too.

No matter how they calibrate it to each individual, 95% seems a bit too high for doing less than a polygraph. Stress in voice doesn't always equate to defensiveness or guilt or any emotional connection in at least 1/3 of the suspects.

Evidence of efficiency and accuracy even though depicted in this video is not telling me if they already knew the pair did it but used it anyway as they knew already that the pair were lying, and on top of that it's an opportunity to make some money for the advertisement, these two were probably pawns (guilty of a crime of course I'm not insinuating otherwise but in this video, were used for a commercial) think about it, everything about the video screams "new and improved lie detector test, see it in action" ( then we are served with snippets of a most likely 8hrs interrogation and pieced together for us to think the CVSA software is legit..

Furthermore to discredit some of the methods used to describe guilt for instance the defensive gestures, they are physical ticks that any one is prone to have in a situation they've never been in, innocent people too may get defensive if pressed for a few minutes or a few hours (thinking that asking for a lawyer, only is for the guilty) truly we don't have enough from this video to agree with the true efficiency of the CVSA system anymore that it's a psychological interrogation tool. (Use it as a means of physical proof to show the suspect that we know they are lying, mostly use when the police are right about their involvement somehow)

The same obvious defensive points that made them out to look guilty are the same for innocent people mostly minority suspects that automatically will be in a defensive frame of mind cause of social factors that differs when it comes to trust in law enforcement.

So this test is still not admissible in a court of law. I think the test was mostly a placebo effect used to make the 2 suspects spill the beans, the cops needed a way to have them admit their involvement as they knew they were hiding something and it most certainly was an open and shut case.

The suspects were told the machine said they lied, and thought, "crap they got me",, CVSA seems to be the product advertised here.

    Clever but obvious.
