Oxford School Shooter Begs to Withdraw Guilty Plea Over ‘Childhood Struggles’ – Everything Law and Order Blog

The teen who opened fire inside his Oxford, Michigan high school wants to withdraw the guilty plea he agreed to in 2021, which resulted in a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. The shooter was 15 at the time of the attack. His attorneys claim there is evidence that the defendant did not understand the plea and that his poor upbringing severely affected him. Law&Crime’s Jesse Weber discusses this latest development with retired Judge Elizabeth Scherer, who oversaw the sentencing phase of the Parkland School shooter’s Florida trial, in which he tried some of the same arguments.

  1. Another 'Florida Woman' legal practitioner who is not bright, did not graduate from a respectable university (FL level/ standard education) and has nothing substantive to bring forth, while she makes a mockery of medicine that she is ignorant to. FL state legislation and MI state legislation, processes, case laws, court ideologies, courtroom decorum and behaviors could not hold more contrast and she is clueless to this attempted conversion, discussion and application of a "shooter case." I'm a licensed healthcare provider and MI native from Oakland County, I believe based on different premise, he/ Crumbly will remain behind bars the rest of his life where he belongs.

  2. I don’t want to sound heartless because he is also just a kid, but he needs to stay in prison forever. There’s people who’ve been through much worse than him and they never even consider harming others.

  3. The worst judge ever. Things like justice/money etc have value because people think they have value. The fact her actions seemed biased against the defendant (who I agree deserves the sentence) makes a less than ideal judge. Does not matter if the defense or prosecution was disrespectful . You courtroom. Your responsibility. Dont be like SCOTUS openly taking bribes from billionaires. At the end of the day, impartiality is all the justice system has.

  4. I don't think she's wearing enough makeup.

Do women really think in the mirror and think "nailed it". Bruh if it makes her more confident I'm all for it, but stop when you look like a completely different person.

  5. I dont know how this woman became a judge. She has ZERO patience, and simply doesn't seem to have the emotionally stability needed for a high stressed position.

  6. Didnt tate rescue other students too? I remember everyone saying hes a hero bc he helped people escape before he got shot. Absolutely heartbreaking he even had to do that. Everyone from that tragic day shoukd be alive and well.

  7. “Childhood struggles”
Bruh I’ve been SA’d and taken advantage of during my childhood and I’m not killing people. Sure I have issues, but that’s my problem to deal with- the majority of us are not intentionally hurting people. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and take your consequences with courage. Using “childhood issues” as a worthless excuse to take other peoples lives is gross, there’s no excuse for the blood spilt.

  8. Life with the possibility of parole is best imo. It's not okay to charge him as an adult, and then double dip and convict the parents as they've done. He won't get help or access to programs if he has life without parole. He was 15. A child. No prior criminal behaviour. He required a legal guardian to go through the court process. If he was actually an adult, he wouldn't need that. Q

  9. I mean, the fact that he asked his parents for mental health treatment and they refused; is very neglectful. Had he actually gotten help, he wouldn’t be able to buy a gun.

  10. Child killers don't do well in prison. Put him in pc. And keep him there. Where was this during trial, why didn't his lawyers bring this up?

  11. Why would anyone have the Parkland judge on. I agree Crumbley needs to stay in prison but that judge was a horrible judge who was basically removed from the bench for her behavior in that Parkland case. I lost a lot of respect for this channel having her on. I couldn’t even finish it once she came on and yet.

  12. He’s not getting this overturned in a pellet court. Otherwise it would give ramifications for others to come back and do the same. I grew up in a household with alcoholic, drug abusing parents, and I didn’t turn out killing other people. Everything life without parole is not a punishable crime for what he did then maybe he should bring back the four people he put in the grave because they’re serving life without a chance to come back. 3:12
