Genetic genealogy and DNA, which were used to identify Bryan Kohberger, are at the center of the Idaho student murders case. Court documents revealed a potential defense Kohberger’s team may use at trial to persuade the jury the accused student killer is not the right guy. The Law&Crime Network’s Angenette Levy breaks it down with DNA expert Kristen Slaper.

29 thoughts on “‘Planted Evidence?’: Bryan Kohberger’s Potential Defense Revealed Amid DNA Battle”
  1. Codis ran it, and no hit and labs make mistakes, and this kind of geneology is not supposed to be used for murders? Y idaho laws say they must turn it over to the defense. It is his rights being violated , and they have to turn it over! Idahonis being sued bt ACLU fir thus very reason, ( Tuckervs.Idaho) check it out!

  2. There was no need to plant dna to frame bk. He was framed by a fake story that his dna matched the knife sheath dna. A match of an SNP does not mean much in itself. A minimum of 90 million humans will match a marker. I think they counted the matches but suppressed information about what did not match. I think this is a monstrous fraud run with the connivance of the main stream media.

I am not convinced now that there was ever dna on the knife sheath. If they faked the sheath comparison test, there was no real reason to have dna physically on the sheath, all they needed was a story that there was dna on the knife sheath, and the main stream media willingly obliged in running this story.

  3. These desperate attempts to get out of this, just say most about Kohberger's clear plan to do everything possible to get out of this, but every defense we've had a glimpse of is just crazy. Additionally, as one of these experts says- "each time someone has tried to claim the evidence was planted, ends up going for a plea deal" and that is my prediction for this case…that fact sealed it for me…

  4. That’s exactly what his defense team is doing since the prosecution is not revealing when was the unknown DNA on the sheaf discovered! Was it before they started to suspect him because of his car spored from an officer on the uni campus and the detectives searching his flat, office… or was it after all this!!!! If the prosecution can’t provide evidence that the unknown dna as discovered before this then his dna as planted! Oh yes definitely!

  5. Planted theory is ridiculous. How did they obtain BK’s DNA and get it on a knife sheath obtained the day of the murders. Cops didn’t know who he was what is the motive for a cop to plant his DNA and put it on the sheaths. Grasping at straws

  6. I feel like this suspect know something but I try to remember that he is innocent until proven guilty of the crimes he has been charged with. Also, just because the defense claims that the sheath was placed or even “planted” where it was doesn’t place the blame on a specific group such as law enforcement or even another witness or a student. Personally, i don’t think one piece of DNA 🧬 evidence should be enough to convince a jury, even with a bunch of very circumstantial evidence. To convince me that someone was guilty of murdering one or more people i would have to have more to give a guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

  7. One could claim that ANY evidence is planted. It's a ridiculous argument at this point in time in criminal justice. Why would they choose to plant yours? Why is your DNA in their possession? You have no relation to the victims

  8. The problem is Privacy. The USA has a very non-existent relationship with Privacy. No wonder law enforcement wishes to not publish their infringing methods and immoral and maybe even illegitimate access to private DNA banks.

  9. Supposedly, Kohberger and his Elantra were not connected to the case until the officer found his Elantra in WSU records on Nov. 30 (17 days later.). Wouldn't they have sent the knife sheath's CODIS DNA profile (STR, what the guest called "convention DNA testing") – and got a no-match before that?

In other words, there should be a time-dated paper trail of all the work and personnel involved in creating the first knife sheath STR profile and CODIS search. All those people will likely take the stand. If it was all faked, then you've got a handful of people perjuring themselves. That early STR and Kohberger's post-arrest STR profile will have to match.

Or, if the lab people were just taking the unknowingly planted DNA evidence given to them and doing honest work, you'll also have to explain what put perfect-patsy Kohberger on Idaho LE's radar shortly after the murders, such that they were able to immediately plant his DNA on the knife sheath – before the STR/CODIS work began.

If it's a knife sheath DNA plant, there's an Elantra-driving psycho or two still on the loose. The alleged LE conspirators better hope DM doesn't testify, "Sorry, that's not him." I don't believe it.

  10. The killer could have picked up BK's DNA at a gas station. Being that there are other male DNA at the scene that remain untested, I think the state has to rule out other suspects in order to make a solid case. I think they jumped the gun in my opinion. Then again the witness testimony is going to be atrocious. Waiting 8 hours before calling police? Suspicious investigators? Moore case anyone? We are supposed to trust the FBI? What? This case reeks of dismissal if not overturned conviction.

  11. 8 HOURS TO PLANT NOT TAMPER CH🎉NGE CRIME SCENE USE THE PROFESER OF CRIMINOLOGY CLASS AS THE EXCAPE GOAT THEN DIALL 911 THE ENTIRE UNIVERSTY HAD ALREADY WOURE GOING VIRAL ON INTERNETT WARE WERE THE POLICE DURING THE CRIME
