Police Chief Says He Chugged Vodka After Crashing His Car, Not Before – Everything Law and Order Blog

Dashcam footage shows the now-former Wister Police Chief being arrested after allegedly driving drunk with his kid in the car on April 28. Kurt Morsund claimed he chugged vodka after nearly totaling his vehicle, “I drank the alcohol after I crashed.” The Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper said witnesses claimed he was driving erratically before the crash, hitting guard rails and swerving all over the road. The chief asked the trooper to “help him out,” but he was still arrested for DUI and endangering a child. Morsund has since resigned from the Wister Police Department.

  1. Legally… nothing is wrong here.
He is not a threat to their safety. He is well-known Chief of police in the area. They do not need to treat him like everybody else. Because he is not an unknown threat like everybody else. You and I would be handcuffed in the back. We are not known. And could be a threat.
He will be treated just like anybody else by the courts.
And punished as we would be.
But how he is treaded at the scene is completely up to the officers discretion. Based on their safety. And the public’s safety. As long as the officer is following his departments policies… he is doing NOTHING wrong. And he knows this. He knows he is being recorded. And he is following the rules.
The Police Chief is well known. And not a threat. And not an
    escape risk.
Yes, officers are treated differently during investigations.
Naturally. Want to be treated the same way during a DUI investigation?
Become a cop. And drive drunk.
Once in the courts, the judge will treat him just like you and I.

  2. Yep, sucks that there's witnesses, but even I know a handful if cops who've used this exact excuse when in DUI situations. It must be something they all talk about "just in case."

  3. Trooper is trying his best not to laugh his ssa off 😂 he needs another badge for being such a g . “We don’t even know the bail amount” lmao.

  4. When things like this happen why don’t the cop put him in handcuffs instead they allow they fellow brother to sit in front seat have a conversation etc treat him like he did something wrong like everybody else smfh

  5. This was always the defense that was talked about when I went to Highschool. Drink after the wreck and they can't prove that you drank BEFORE the wreck.

  6. What a lying scumbag. Nobody would chug a bottle of vodka after having a massive crash while they wait for the police. This guy needs to be in jail and lose his job.

  7. The trooper should be suspended for breaking protocol. He put the criminals cuffs in the front. While putting him in the driver seat. He also let him make phone calls from his personal device which could have aired in his escape. Both of these cops are criminals

  8. I once had a lawyer tell me that if I was ever drunk driving and hit something and if I was able too run home before the cops arrive grab a bottle of booze and when the police arrive come out drinking it claiming that you had got scared and drank to claim down. Terrible advice, but I think this cop knows the same lawyer, lmao!

  9. Arresting officer: come on man. It’s Friday. Do you think I wanted to be here and upholding the law? Come on man. Think.

Lmfao so you are an officer begrudgingly removing drunk drivers off the street?

  10. it woulda been crazy if that was a gun he pulled out instead of a phone while hancuffed in front, and sitting in the passenger seat. smh

  11. Oh I guess you was saying like officer's face the one that's on duty yeah not bad at all and I do have a bit of a fantasy 🥳🤣

  12. Crashes with his daughter, sits in the front seat explaining himself away. Gets special treatment all while the arresting officer is saying he can’t give special treatment

  13. He took it like a man on the chin.. But the sheriff needs to be reprimanded. He's in the front seat with his phone calling whoever he pleases.cuffed in the front

  14. To those interested in the incognito claim… from what I understand is that they lost 5 billion in the suit, and last I checked, 136 million peoples data was scraped!

Some quick math would tell you that if they all were to share that money, it would be about 36 dollars a piece! If everyone was considered in the suit!?

Are you ready to have your search history, ESPECIALLY what you searched in that mode pulled to question under oath…

    FOR THIRTY SIX DOLLARS!? LOL

I'm not even 100 percent sure that is how a suit of that magnitude would work!? But I doubt it would be really worth the effort! :/
