I’m 5’10”, at 15 I was signed to Ford- at the time the biggest agency. I made more money than my dad did in 5 years in my first year. There are countless cases exactly like this one. Young girls wanting to be models, only to end up dead. There are so few model types on this planet, so few with what is required to be model, yet so many think they have it. I can not understand why the parents, friends or family members do not step in and give their kids a reality check. Most of them are pretty….but being pretty does NOT qualify you to be a model, at least not with a real agent and professional jobs. This is so tragic, so preventable, and such a odious loss. My son is a professional model, he has a professional agent, they screen all of his jobs, they screen the photographers, they never send him to any job alone…there is always a rep from his agency with him…always! If there are multiple models from different agencies, they all without exception have an escort from their collective agencies with them. The company is screened, contracts signed and loads of precautionary measures in place well before my son shows up at the jobs…not to mention the fact that he is 21 years old, and I have gone with him to every single job and he works all the time. It is his job to model and my job as a mother, to watch over him. When will people learn? If your child does not have a professional agent, a professional modelling specific portfolio, if there is not a contract in place, no agency rep with them at all times…..your kid is NOT a model! Your kids is a potential victim!
