Ketie Jones was used to walking alone. But everything changed on one particular walk home: she was shot shortly after taking playful pictures of herself on the street. Who killed Ketie Jones? Crime Watch Daily’s Michelle Sigona has the story.

Summarized observations from my perspective:
1. Using Katie's calculated walking pace, if she continued walking down Hamorton Pl on the walkway without stopping, she is estimated to have arrived at her final distance down Hamorton (in front of the Berryhill Realty driveway) at 02:47:38 a.m..
2. Katie turns from Hamorton walkway left into Berryhill Realty driveway and goes a short distance into the driveway where she was ultimately found. I don't know her pace while entering the driveway because it may have increased as she was obviously scared and trying to get away and perhaps slowed after being shot. I'm roughly estimating 2 seconds of time going into the driveway before falling because she was reportedly only a short distance into the driveway. This would calculate Katie to reach her final estimated location within the driveway at 02:47:40 a.m..
3. The headlights of the suspected vehicle appear rolling into the surveillance video at 02:47:39 a.m. and the vehicle appears completely parked at 2:47:40 a.m.. Keep in mind that when the vehicle's lights come into surveillance view, the vehicle had already driven just past the Berryhill Realty driveway/where Katie was ultimately found by police. The Berryhill Realty house blocks the camera's range from capturing footage back further to where the front of the Berryhill driveway is. The camera's range extends to the portion of Hamorton Pl. that is before the Berryhill driveway from the camera's position (and just past the Berryhill driveway from the suspect’s perspective as the suspected vehicle drove past the Berryhill Realty driveway to be captured on film and park).
4. The suspect's vehicle stays parked for 17 seconds.
5. Vehicle backs away at 02:47:57 a.m..
6. Seemingly the suspected vehicle re-appears on video at 02:48:30 a.m. now driving forward to leave the scene running stop sign quickly heading towards The Plaza.
What is most striking to me is how very quickly the crime seems to have occurred. Based on calculations of Katie’s walking pace, assuming she continued down Hamorton at the same pace without stopping, it seems as though the suspected car would have been right next to and passing Katie while Katie was on the Hamorton Pl walkway in front of the driveway at 2:47:38 a.m.. and just two seconds after that we see the vehicle had driven past the driveway and parked (at same time I’m estimating Katie collapsed). If the timing calculations are accurate, I think that Katie was most likely either shot from assailant(s) while inside the vehicle, or the coconspirators were already outside of the vehicle at the time the driver passed by the driveway/Katie at 02:47:38 a.m.. I think that if the shooter(s) had first parked as shown in surveillance video before getting out of the vehicle to fire their first shot, then Katie would have likely been located further away than where she was found by police.
From the surveillance video and Google maps, I’m observing that Katie walked 20 concrete squares down The Plaza in 24 seconds, which I’m calculating to be a walking pace of .8333 squares per second (20 squares /24 seconds = .8333). Also, after turning left on Hamorton Place, there are 20 concrete squares to get to the start of the entrance of the Berryhill Realty driveway that Katie passed away within. We can see Katie turned left at Hamorton Place at 02:47:14 a.m.. We can therefore calculate that if she continues walking at the same pace down Hamorton without stopping, she will arrive at the start of the driveway entrance of Berryhill Realty 24 seconds later at 02:47:38 a.m. (02:47:14 a.m. + 24 Seconds of walking). Per local homicide detective Shana Isenhour as interviewed on Crime Watch Daily, it appears Katie was located approximately a few steps into the Berryhill Realty driveway after she had entered the driveway near the start of the driveway entrance (seemingly as soon as she could turn left into it), which we may estimate to be approximately another two seconds of time passing after she arrived at the front of the driveway entrance 02:47:40 a.m. (02:47:38 a.m. calculated normal Hamorton walk arrival to front of driveway entrance + 2 more seconds to turn left into Berryhill driveway and walk for a few steps while presumably being shot at). The significant thing here is we see the suspect’s vehicle had driven past Katie and the driveway and come to a parked state at exactly 02:47:40 a.m., the same exact time estimated for Katie to fall from the attack and be in the place she was located in.
Based on Katie’s calculated walk location at the driveway entrance at 2:47:38 a.m. (as shown on surveillance camera footage), and based on Katie becoming frightened and turning left into Berryhill driveway and walking for an estimated 2 seconds before collapsing, and based on the suspect’s vehicle seen on video parking two seconds later at 2:47:40 a.m. past the Berryhill driveway, and staying parked for 17 seconds before backing away:
–SCENARIO ONE (IF ONLY ONE ASSAILANT & SHOTS FIRED BEFORE PARKING): In this scenario, shooter would also be the vehicle’s driver. In order to fit with calculated timing, the driver would have had passenger windows rolled down and fired shots through passenger window at Katie at 2:47:38 a.m. at the earliest, while driving past Katie/driveway and before pulling forward into surveillance video and parking at 2:47:40 a.m.. For this scenario to work, the shooting would have occurred while Katie had at least reached the front of driveway. Perhaps the first shot(s) were misses and would have frightened Katie into turning left into driveway, or perhaps she was struck but was able to take a couple steps before a bullet caused her to collapse at approximately 02:47:40 a.m. (while at the same time the suspect is parking the vehicle as we see in surveillance). Because Katie became fearful and turned left dashing into driveway to get away as she was shot, this could explain the blunt force trauma to the left side of her body as that side likely hit the ground while dashing left into driveway and then falling. Also of note here, when the perpetrator pulled forward and parked, the victim would no longer be within perpetrator’s view because she turned left into driveway and would have been in driveway obscured by bushes from perpetrator’s viewpoint. Perhaps during the 17 seconds the vehicle was parked, the driver was disoriented from doing the gunshots, or perhaps the driver got out of vehicle and walked back to driveway to make sure the victim had been shot, and then returned to vehicle and backed away. This scenario seems somewhat possible, although I have doubts as to whether a single driver would have been able to approach, shoot, and park within this tight time frame.
–SCENARIO TWO (IF ONLY ONE ASSAILANT & SHOTS FIRED AFTER PARKING): In this scenario, shooter would also be the vehicle’s driver.
In this scenario, we see the driver pulled forward into surveillance video and parked at 2:47:40 a.m. (literally the estimated time Katie collapsed given her location). For this scenario to work, the driver would have had to somehow get out of vehicle in about one second of parking on Hamorton and then shoot Katie immediately. Single shooter almost definitely would not have been able to make the calculated timing if shooter parked first in surveillance video before shooting because shooter would then have to get out of vehicle and turn towards target (unless driver crawled into passenger seat and shot from there, which I think is very unlikely). Shooter would have had to quickly open vehicle door, very quickly dash to shooting position, point gun and fire multiple shots, all this within the span of only 1 second in order to fit with timing, if any longer than 1 second (as obviously it would be), then Katie would be further away – this scenario seems extremely unlikely.
–SCENARIO THREE (DRIVER PLUS AT LEAST ONE OTHER ASSAILANT): Having more than one perpetrator enables this very quick crime to be carried out more easily. With a dedicated driver and at least one other assailant acting as shooter, the crime could be carried out with more precision. For example, if the driver let the shooter(s) out of the car before driving past Katy/Berryhill Realty driveway, then the shooter(s) could have confronted the victim at gunpoint and performed shooting while having the driver focus solely on parking and the getaway, this would easily explain why she could have been getting shot and falling while the driver was parking. Or alternatively, if driver just drove and shooter(s) stayed in vehicle, shooter assailant(s) could have been focused on shooting from inside the vehicle, such as listed in SCENARIO ONE, dedicated shooter could shoot either from front passenger seat or from back seat). As the time window is so tight, for Katie to arrive at front of driveway, driver to be approximately in front of Katie at that same time, and for driver to park past the driveway approximately 2 seconds later while Katie is falling in the driveway; it is very likely the driver was focusing solely on driving and someone else was focusing on the shooting. Also, if the shooting did occur after the car parked, the non-driver shooter(s) would be able to come out of the passenger side facing Katie with a better angle to start quickly firing rather than a driver who would have to change his position and turn around before then shooting.
I think most likely there was a dedicated driver and the other shooter assailant(s) shot several times at Katie in the driveway as shooter(s) were shooting from Hamorton (whether from inside car or from standing outside of it); this enables the timeline to work in various ways and aligns with the tight window of time just after driver drives past Katie and the vehicle parks 2 seconds later. As multiple shots were reported and she was only struck one time according to reports, I'm thinking the shooter was not right next to her at the time of shooting. Probably shots were fired by dedicated shooter(s) just as the car was parking. I think most likely the first shot or two missed and scared Katie into dashing left into the Berryhill driveway where she was eventually struck by at least one of the bullets which caused her to fall. I think it makes sense for Katie's left side to have received blunt force trauma from her fall as she was going left into driveway as she fell. The alarm then went off from the gunshots and the perpetrator(s) perhaps abandoned their robbery mission, perhaps the driver did not take off immediately after hearing alarm because of the need to wait on the other perpetrators to get back into the getaway vehicle first before taking off. Also, at just about 1 second following the estimated shooting time, a red car drives by The Plaza and Hamorton at 2:47:41 a.m., and the assailant driver would have no-doubt seen the car drive by at the time of the shooting and may have influenced driver to not want to drive forward to the same street a potential witness may be on. There may have been some disagreement in the vehicle as to the best getaway direction. I’m not surprised the vehicle initially backed away to leave the scene.
I believe SCENARIO THREE is by far the most likely scenario as it is most plausible and has several conditions that could account for the timeline and for what we see on the surveillance video. I believe the assailants had a plan and were combing the area on the late night looking for someone inebriated to shoot/rob and happened upon a young girl who looked like an easy mark. My understanding is that usually during a robbery, the robbers do not shoot unless the robbers feel very threatened. The fact a shooting occurred in a case like this appears extremely rare and has caused a lot of confusion and unanswered questions. I believe it’s important to keep in mind that around the time of this shooting, there were a number of other nearby shooting/robberies that occurred whereby the victim was first shot and then robbed; I believe the same plan was likely in place and Katie would have been robbed after being shot if the gunfire didn’t cause the alarm to go off and send the attackers to the getaway vehicle to leave the scene.
Furthermore, as publicized in the news, at a nearby location in the same Plaza Midwood neighborhood only several weeks after this crime, essentially another SCENARIO THREE shooting crime happened again, also at night, just a short distance away whereby three individuals were in a car that drove up and performed a shooting/robbery at night of two people where both victims were shot and one was shot through the side (as I understand Katie was). These perpetrators are my number one suspects in this crime. You can Google to see the news articles to learn more about this.
Car is a Cadillac De Ville series from the 2000s , looks to me anyways
Someone knew what time she got off work
It was random.. probably gang related. Kill someone to be in the gang. Sad
so this girl just walking home doing selfies being a dork and someone drives by and caps her like she's a gang member WTF
There’s no value for life anymore….
The surveillance videos are always such terrible quality.
I'm thinking if there's any gang activity there. That might explain an innitiation killing, that would explain why there was no motive or that Katie's slaying was personal.
So the building she was shot at has alarms, but not any cameras…
Cris Hansen needs to get his eyes checked. That car didn't "slam into reverse" and wasn't speeding away.
some1 in the group chat is what i'm thinking; i'm only at 1:30
That speeding car looks like a dodge challenger
Someone knew she was walking alone ! Down that street.
Yeah, pink pepper spray does nothing when someone has a gun.
Hard to tell but the car looks like a light colored late model Dodge Challenger.
It’s too dark , what is the aim of the surveillance camera if it doesn’t shoot clear and useful videos
It's 2021. This case is not solved yet? 🤔

The suspect's car looks like a late 90s Cadillac DeVille. A popular car with the elderly and oddly enough, gang bangers.
Gang initiation maybe?
Could have pulled up a little bit past her someone got out approached her and has to walk alittle bit past the car bc of her walking and she wasn’t standing still at first so when the person shot her the person driving had to back up so the person that had shot her can jump back into the passenger side! Kind as if when they first pulled up she kept walking past the parked car and the driver wasn’t the shooter and backed up so the person could easily jump in
This story is as so many stories, far too many stories is very disturbing, as well as extremely upsetting.

Women have the Right to Feel and be Safe…
No woman…, or person….child…should ever have to experience this kind heinous personal intrusion in their lifetime, this seems to be occurring at least according to news reports more, and all to often.
Actually this activity should be in a stage, or state of Reversal, and NOT Increasing, I am continually upset as well as greatly disturbed in hearing such stories, as I have always have been…
My Heart Always… goes out to any person which have experienced any such similar experience of intrusion, attacks, and, or invasion of their personal well-being… due violence, and or violent behavior,
I will continue Praying for the Safety and Well-Being of Others…

I live down the strewt
I have no idea what cars I have driven by the last couple of nights. That is a hard request.
Was just watching a doc yesterday about a serial killer that sets up kill kits in random cities if he’s there & just happens to feel like killing that day. It’s chilling but they are out there.
I wonder if she turned the corner and was about to see something someone didn’t want her to see.
Personally I got to say something I think that somebody just hated the fact that somebody was happy in life and they couldn’t stand it and that’s why she was killed it’s a sad diet but it’s the only thing that I can conclude to it is they said she was singing and dancing on the way home so that means she was happy and showing so much joy well evil doesn’t like joy and she was coming back from the bar so it could’ve been someone at the bar saw her from a distance and didn’t want to talk to her in front of her friends and then as soon as he gets ready to start talking to her she rejects him and he shoots her in then drive off
We gotta update security cameras so they dont look like ass
With all those homes around none have a camera? Someone somewhere has a picture of that car on video . Follow the cameras …
Our city had horrible things happen, it was gang initiation and they killed many innocent people that were just out in public. This sad story reminded me of what happened here.
I have lived in Charlotte or nearby for most of my life! No one in their right mind walks around Central/Plaza even in daylight hours! Insane! That is an area known for drug deals, etc. So sorry it happened to her…
It's got to be someone that knows her..and knew she was going to walk by there..The killer was waiting for her..There's always someone that doesn't like you or is jealous of you..They need to check out her co-workers, ex boyfriends and friends..and ladies please don't walk alone at night..I don't care how many times this girl walked in the middle of the night and she was safe..because there could be one night that something bad happens to you at that time..She could of gotten a ride back home from a co-worker..Don't take risks or chances with your life or safety..It's not worth it
1. She wasn't robbed. So she was likely targeted.
2. Only her friends knew she would be walking home from a night out.
3. Her messages sent to her Facebook group chat was a direct pinpoint of her location.
I conclude it was one of her "friends" that was with her that night.
That car looks like a 2002 Buick century or regal
Gang initiation

what the hell is the point of these types of blurry surveillance cameras, they never show anything detailed.. if they even show anything at all.. ..
that is not a sedan at all thats a dodge challenger
Criminals needn’t fear CCTV; the quality of it in most crimes is crap.
I don't think thats the killers car that comes out the street, and if it is it is 'not' speeding away!!
Anyway, when the killers car reverses it turns at the same time, reversing into the driveway directly across from the parking lot Ketie was found.I think the car went back up the street it came down initially after shooting her.
Who is walking on a busy road by 2.40 am?
