In this episode of Crime Watch Daily Updates: Anita Knutson was always the life of the party. The 18-year-old was beloved by everyone around her all while working two jobs and putting herself through college.
Then, one day in June 2007, everything changed for Anita and her family.
Anita’s parents, Sharon and Gordon, became concerned after Anita didn’t answer their calls or show up to work. On June 4, 2007, Gordon drove to Anita’s apartment near Minot State University in North Dakota and discovered his daughter dead.
Anita’s body was face-down on her bed and covered with a large coat. She had been stabbed to death, and the killer even left the knife in a sink.
Police questioned many possible suspects, including Anita’s roommate. Anita’s parents grew suspicious of her roommate because the two apparently had a fraught and turbulent relationship. But nothing was sticking.
Anita’s case went cold, and the Knutson family dealt with more grief. In 2013, her brother, Daniel, killed himself.
Almost 15 years after Anita’s death, in March 2022, police arrested the roommate, Nichole Rice, on suspicion of murder. She pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to appear in court in December 2022.
Let’s take a look back at the tragic case of a promising young student whose life got ripped away.
should be ashamed for framing Tyler in the way they did.
This poor family, so tragic. I don't think the sister had anything to do with it or anything and my heart goes out to her but, did anyone else noticed how weird she was acting in her interview? She looks like she's on the verge of cracking up laughing and when she wipes her eyes, there are no tears. We all handle grief differently and this tragedy did happen a long time ago. I just thought it was a little weird. Poor Tyler, I'm sure he was acting weird because he is a little weird. but that doesn't make him a murderer. I wish they would've shown his wife, I bet she is adorable.
The current reporter is telling some facts differently than the original video, i.e. the knife was found in the sink vs. the knife found at the end of the bed (original video) and that Anita was found covered in a heavy coat vs. she was covered in a housecoat (original video). Not that it makes a lot of difference, I suppose, but I appreciate accuracy.
This may be petty but I dislike the Covid look of a pod cast… it was much better when it was a show.
I'm a bit bummed about this video. The reason being is that they have the story split up in four different parts and I just watched all of them; 1 through 4. Then this video popped up and it was titled: "roommate got arrested…..". So I thought it was going to be a new extension to the story with updates. But it was just the same thing only compiled all together.
When they said altercations between her roomy and stabbed. I knew it was definitely a female.. if my roommate was murdered I would be all over her case trying to help her family because it could have been me…. jealousy is a bad trait. You can tell she was loved by many
I don't know I mean that guy and heard they just don't seem like they would be people that would date there's a Tractive level that's a little bit dissipated on one side
Anita was really stupid, she was afraid of her roommate still didn’t moved asap. This stories will shows others “ if you’re afraid..leave “
Capt.John Kluf “if we run that.. that.. TRY to run DNA on that knife again then there can potentially be something found”
Did you run the DNA or not?
Her name was Anita😔 If it was a Nicola, Stephany I’m sure the investigation didn’t take this long and even her brother with closure were alive today🥺 devastating case. 🕊🕯️🙏🏻
I love the story from the sister about the Christmas gifts, me and my brother did that once as well but got caught lol. Prayers for the family and Tyler; your an awesome friend and Anita cared for you because you was a real genuine friend!!
Poor Tyler 🙁
Makes me glad my brother is my roommate and not someone I don’t know.
Lazy Unprofessional Police Work .
It's not illegal to hella love your friends. I'm glad Tyler didn't give up on her story. And I hope that her family finds some solace in just remembering how sweet she seemed to be. 18 is so young. Rest in peace Anita.
I actually feel really bad for Tyler. He just seemed to really value her and misses her dearly.
You can almost see his pain.
So sad.
Per what Anita told her mom about the roommate, the roommate should’ve be one of the first suspects investigated. She clearly had motive.
How is spending the weekend with her parents a solid alibi? That’s one of the shakiest alibis around!!
Solid alibi: her parents. Seriously?
This hambeast killed TWO people here. Anita's brother took his life as well. I hope she gets exactly what's coming to her. The parents should be prosecuted for LYING!
To me it seems like the roommate did it. Let me say I lost my mom at 17, dad at 18 a brother in 85 on Mother’s Day he passed, a brother in 2010 and recently my sister and last week my aunt passed. I seen how hard my mom took the loss of our brother as a mother on Mother’s Day I can never imagine how hard it was for my parents no parent should ever bury their child ever. I also seen a case where a lady married this guy she had two kids with him and she had two adult children and this scumbag sliced her face and shot her in the foot, he then killed her two adult children with a gun and a week prior bought tubing and somehow ran the piping up to the kids room and let the car run and that killed her two youngest kid. Also he was released after he murdered his ex wife who was pregnant at the time. The justice system doesn’t ever really give justice or closure to a family and this POS should of never been released. This is horrible so I say either the roommate or maybe the maintenance man, but they probably got his DNA so that takes him out of the equation then there were probably a few construction workers that did not go and comply so I’m saying either the roommate or one of the construction workers. This woman needs justice and the brother who killed himself is just horrible. God that family is in my prayers and my all kids lost in my comments R.I.P I’m sure they will have justice one day.
I feel sorry for her family and I can only assume that the grief and angry and suspicion of everyone played a part but I sure hope they show more graciousness to Tyler these days. Being awkward doesn't make you a killer and I think he really cared for her a lot
I hate when these shows say "her adoptive parents" or "adoptive brother"! Those are her parents, he was her BROTHER, and her sister is her sister! Simple as that!!
