    Likely, Jodi only had time to close and lock the vault door—clearly knowing that it might contain incriminating evidence and thinking this would prevent the police finding it. This is supported by her claiming that the safe had not been used in years, that she had forgotten the combination, lost any physical record of it and didn’t know who to call to obtain it.

    Anticipating the police, she grabbed the rope from a visible location (possibly E’s room) dashed to vault, tossed it into a drawer and locked vault. The rope, unlike weights, the duct tape, and the honey/pepper salve, would raise immediate suspicions given E’s injuries.
