Minutes after Christopher Scholtes and his wife, Erika Scholtes, discovered their 2-year-old daughter, Parker, had been left in a hot car, police in Marana, Arizona were on the scene with body-worn cameras recording. EMT’s tried to save Parker’s life but it was too late. Officers recorded Scholtes explaining what happened and his reaction to the situation. Law&Crime’s Angenette Levy breaks down the video and what Christopher Scholtes said happened that day in this episode of Crime Fix — a daily show covering the biggest stories in crime.

  1. It really creeped me out when he wanted to take a shower after he understood the cops were really going to investigate him.

  2. people do not understand that he turned off the ability he is given once a child is born. Maternal instants is what they call it and this is an animal mechanism that we have built in our bodies. Same for any animal that has babies and that is to protect it. Now a dog will have a baby and always have the urge to get back to the child. To check on it. So if you have a dog that was pregnant, then you know it will not leave and if it does its runs back to look. So how are some people forgetting children and a majority of the population does not. Well, it has to do with him and how he views his family. Something has changed as he is now locked into something or someone else. More than likely he would have divorced his wife in the future. So now instead of viewing the child as somthing to love and to care about, his views now changed to what will happen to his life once he leaves so he has a feeling of getting away from the child as its now a problem. So he is slowly losing the maternal instants that is built into his animal side so checking on the child or caring for it and even making sure its alive has now moved from priority to after thoughts. Thats why other times he was able to catch it, with his wife help or reminding him.

  3. I will never understand ANY PARENTS, BUSY, DISTRACTED, FORGETFUL OR DEMENTIA HOW OR WHY COULD YOU "FORGET" YOUR CHILD IN A CAR!!!! YOU DON'T FORGET YOU HAVE CHILDREN SO WHY NOT CHECK YOUR BACKSEATS EVERY SINGLE TIME BEFORE YOU GET OUT OF YOUR CAR!!!!!

  4. Had a newborn and a 2 and 3 year old 3 kids it was hectic every day and sleep deprived for me and my wife during those years especially working different shifts to avoid day care and never not once did we forget our children in the car there's no excuse this guy killed his baby and deserves a lengthy prison sentence in my opinion.

  5. Thats got to be one of the most miserable ways to die. Any case involving either a child or a pet stuck in a hot car is just so hard to hear.

  6. I mean no disrespect when I say this but sir if the air conditioner was I’m willing to bet that that the baby would’ve still been here living her little beautiful life so just keep it real on wut you did

  7. I'm sorry, but he doesn't sound like a parent riddled with guilt about just leaving his daughter to roast to death in a car.

  8. My parents always took me out even if I was sleeping. Usually I’d go right back to bed inside. This is criminal negligence especially when he has done it COUNTLESS times before. All those brains on his degree yet his head is fkn empty. GUILTY!

  9. The kid probably cramped his easy lifestyle, so he ….
Stay at home dad? NO, more like a leaching, lazy freeloader with too many toys and a naive, possibly brainwasged, wife who brings home lotsa bacon.
