Twenty-four-year-old Payton Shires now faces over 28 years behind bars after pleading guilty to multiple sex crimes charges. Shires was arrested in October 2023, after investigators found explicit texts, photos, and videos of her sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy. Shires, who was employed as a social worker, was first introduced to the boy when she began counseling him. Couldn’t the DA request the court to have the victim attend the trial by a remote location within the courthouse? He could be questioned by the attorneys on both sides and he wouldn’t be so scared and nervous actually sitting in the courtroom in front of those attending and the jurors?
