‘Stabbed 20 Times, Ruled a Suicide’: Investigating the Mysterious Death of Ellen Greenberg – Everything Law and Order Blog

Pennsylvania teacher Ellen Greenberg was found dead inside her Philadelphia apartment during a blizzard in January 2011. Her fiancé, Sam Goldberg, returned to their apartment after a workout and had to force his way through the locked door. Inside he found Greenberg with a 10-inch knife through her chest. Investigators concluded she suffered 20 stab wounds — 10 to her neck and head, and 10 to her abdomen. Goldberg was not considered a suspect. NewsNation senior national correspondent Brian Entin visits the crime scene, speaks with Greenberg’s parents, and discusses the tragic case on this episode of “Entin Across America.”

  1. So he killed her and they just chose to ignore that.
Edit: I think the cause of death is pretty clear. I wouldn't want this dipsh*t department in charge of the investigation. I would want a new investigation with an outside agency.

  2. there's no mystery here. the fiancé did it. The largest common denominator
with murderers men on women, is that they are controlling. Motive's their feel of loss of control. He most likely sedated
her or attacked her in the shower from the back hence the cuts in the neck. He then cleaned up, went down to the gym of the building to establish an alibi, went up, went down and spoke to the security guy again for alibi, went up, pushed in through the already prepared and loosened safety bolt, any normal person except
for the murderer would have rushed to body to see if pulse, try to save etc. anyone who wouldn't be afraid to be implicated would have rushed to her, felt if she had pulse and would have seen the wounds etc. and they would have done it Before they called 911. He talks as if he wasn't even near her or checked before he called. He then lied to the police about having the security guard with him upstairs to the apartment and that the security
guard had told him to break in the door which was clearly a lie according to the security guard himself, and the police didn't even bothered to check this what it seems. It's highly manipulative and common for the
perp to make it sound as if he just acted on someone elses words, a security guard, to make it believable, he then manipulated the relatives to get 'his stuff' and also hers, to rid of all evidence. The
    relatives
    say they didn't
    know which computer and phone
was his or hers which would have been very
easy to specify with a few words, clearly he wanted them to take both. They should just go arrest him and put him in jail.

  3. Excellent reporting Brian! Keep covering this. This was one of the sloppiest cruelest cover-ups I've ever seen. It's clear her fiancé killed her before he claims he went to the gym. Then he comes back and does his fake acting. The phone call is the fakest call I've ever seen. The uncle taking the ring so petty and trying to pretend oh the door was broken down. She probably wss writing about being abused in her journal. I hope this girl gets justice. She deserves justice for the way she was brutally brutally murdered. And I don't know how the people are still living in that apartment. That would totally freak me out.The lock isn't even safe on those doors

  4. I remember when this happened and I have thought about this regularly over the years. It boggles my mind. I’ve never understood why police are covering for him or is there some connection!? It makes so easy and it truly seems like a super easy case

  5. I really hope Ellen's family gets the 700 thousand back when they sue the police Dept and the former AG who did everything he could to bury this case, because Sam's family have friends in high places.
