  1. Lame lame lame epsiode this one. Why bother going through these interesting cases and a few of the details but nope dumbass lady from people mag (of course, trashy mag trashy tease) says sorry tehehe she won't tell us how the case ended nope ya gotta watch the show. Lame. Well that is the exact reason that I Most certainly will not watch that stupid show.

  2. What seems odd to me is why there would be so much crime in a free country where you have the rights that we do and we have the right to bear arms meaning 24 hours a day we can protect Ourselves and why in the world Wouldn’t people at least try to protect their selves and their families that literally makes no sense don’t be a victim whether it’s to a human or to an animal don’t be attacked by anybody or anything If you’re going to go down, at least go down, fighting a good fight protecting yourself and your loved ones around you

  3. I agree that police training has improved as it relates to reporting SA and DV. However, I would challenge it has a long way to go. Take Gabby Petito’s case. In the infamous body cam video , the 2nd set of officers that arrived on scene had zero understanding of coercive control and handled the situation horribly. Not all officers receive the same training. This is a huge problem in the US in which we have thousands of tiny jurisdictions that don’t get the same funding nor have the same resources or can hire the skilled people.

  4. Ana – I beg you to read about the phenomenon called r@pe culture. You're a fantastic reporter and this knowledge would make you an even greater one. 🖤

  5. Whilst listening I was sure Bud was killed, when you said their relationship didn’t survive that saddened me even more. Horrific stories.

  6. 22:30 That's the least charitable view, however the most likely explanation is that the police knew they couldn't prove that a crime was committed (like she said) and couldn't disprove that it was a consensual encounter (like he said).

  7. At least 90% of the time when a person survives a murder attempt, it's got nothing to do with that person's will to live or ability to fight. For the vast majority of cases, these people survive because their would-be killer failed to seal the deal (i.e. bullets or blades that miss vital organs, strangulation or drowning attempts that don't last long enough, etc). And for some of them, they survive despite receiving fatal injuries and I consider those cases to be modern day miracles. But whether it's due to a killer's failure or divine intervention, the victim had no control over whether they survived or not. By claiming otherwise, you're insulting all of those who didn't survive. You're indirectly saying that murder victims die because they don't have the will to live… which is absolutely ludicrous and totally false.

  8. Another thing that made me think what an amazing woman Annette is was that she was only 19 at the time! She was 19 years old and knew how to stroke the ego of a narcissist scumbag!! Now did she learn that from past experiences of trauma or she just let her instincts kick in?? She’s such an inspiration and I WISH I could have just a tiny bit of that strength she had and still has!! I would LOVE to talk to her so much!! All of these women are amazing!! But what got me with Annette was she was only 19!!!! I can’t imagine how scared she must have been but yet calmed herself down to the point where he let her go!!!

  9. I had to turn off before 20 mins. I wanted to hear about the story not that ladies analysis. Anytime she started going off on a tangent my brain lost interesting 😢

  10. I was molested as a child so I’m a survivor and I know what it’s like to hide a secret then as an adult decide to tell my story and that story not be believed or received by a sympathetic family. So you begin to reach out to others for sympathy and support by telling your story. So what I’m saying is that a survivor may be wanting to tell their story as a way to heal wounds that may never be healed.

  11. Omg I cannot listen another minute to this guest speak. Guess I'll watch it on ID (unless she's on that, too).

  12. Regarding the police not taking her seriously. It’s not about police training. These men always had this attitude towards women. They’d say “oh they’re lying” or “they were asking for it.”

It’s sexism and misogyny. I know women who were raped and the cops treated it like a joke.

Also let’s be honest here, some people who decide they want to be cops aren’t good people. They were often delinquents growing up. They become cops to have control over people.

From the National Center for Women & Policing

“Two studies have found that at least 40% of police officer families experience domestic violence, in contrast to 10% of families in the general population. A third study of older and more experienced officers found a rate of 24%, indicating that domestic violence is 24 times more common among police families than American families in general. A police department that has domestic violence offenders among its ranks will not effectively serve and protect victims in the community.
Moreover, when officers know of domestic violence committed by their colleagues and seek to protect them by covering it up, they expose the department”

So these men who become cops have an unhealthy attitude towards women.

  13. She is right. I am very open about being graped as a child. It helped me to get power over the situation and shoe it doesn't define me. I use to have a lot of ptsd over it. Thunder still once I a while if it's unexpected will give me flashbacks and I can't see the first house it happened to me at. That one was for the majority of the time. The second house doesn't affect me nor do I think I could remember which house that was. They only lived there for maybe a year before I told finally. I was 7 when he began touching me. Shortly before I turned 8 is when the grape stared. I told exactly two weeks before my 11th birthday. He got 36 years in prison which was the minimum.

  14. I really enjoyed watching this podcast. I want to compliment the editor of the people magazine.. thank you for your genuinely kind and thoughtful words for the families of the victims, the victims, survivors, and even police. I really loved how "real" you are. I loved how you weren't staring at the camera and reading off a script. I could tell you were digging Into your memory for these stories. So often these true crime story tellers just tell these stories for views and subscribers and lack genuine care for the people they are talking about. . I believe you really connected with each case you've published in People magazine. Thank you for coming on the show.

  15. It is really hard to listen to Alicia. It's like she is processing slowly while speaking. It definitely makes me uninterested in this story

  16. lol not the guest host telling Ana she needed to watch the series 😩💀 love how they quickly cut to commercial. Also what? Just by being on the show is getting the series publicity. I was definitely annoyed that she told Ana she had to watch the show 🙄

  17. Всём выжившим и потерпевшим, пусть у вас всегда будет хорошее настроение и солнце!

  18. I think someone can be a victim but have a survivor mentality. If u look up the definitions they are kinda close. Also ppl focus on women's looks if they pretty n r a killer. Why not men too? What's the difference? 5:26

  19. Hi Ana. Hope you’re well. Would I be able to watch the serial killer over here in the UK. Big hugs and thank you for bringing this to us and showing how strong people can be. ❤

  20. Hi Ana – I love that Alicia was on the podcast today. There are so many serial killers that we don’t know about. The survivors are so brave to go to Police to then not be believed. It is infuriating! Thank goodness these survivors spoke up though. I applaud the survivors and mourn for the victims that didn’t survive. I hope you have a wonderful weekend, Ana! My 78 year old Dad, Homer, is coming into town for my Grandson’s 5th Birthday. ❤

  21. sorry but, that guest needs to learn to SPEAK, it's irritating to listen to her hesitant speech all the time, spit it out already!

  22. Just can't understand the "Handsome" tag. Bruce may have had powder- blue eyes… But that odd handlebar moustache on that small face and the flat nose, is hardly Dreamboat material. 😅

  23. I cannot imagine the strength of these women. I think if it was me, the anger and the fury would probably keep me going.
But I take my hat off to them all for the resilience they’ve shown.

  24. I've never really been able to agree with this statement "you can choose to be a victim or you can be a survivor, I choose to be a survivor"
I think that's what most of us would choose.

  25. I can’t imagine being put in a position where a serial killer snatched me, or broke in my home. I don’t own a gun but I believe it’s time because this world is a scary place, esp now.
