Teen convicted of girlfriend’s murder serves 40 years but maintains his innocence

Jesse Barnes was just 17 when his 15-year-old girlfriend, Cynthia Vaughn, was found dead with multiple stab wounds in 1971. Jesse was interrogated and asked again and again if he killed Cynthia, to the point where he eventually confessed. There was nothing to corroborate his confession, and Jesse maintains his innocence despite the admission. After serving 40 years in prison, Jesse was released based only on a sentencing error. He shares his side of the story with “True Crime News.”

  1. So many are wrongfully accused and they don’t live to see exoneration. Praying he is alive and well and living life to the best of his ability. I always felt his story was NOT his it was fabricated by officers. And when these situations are founded they tryna end throw a little money as if that makes it all better. TIME is something that we can’t PAY FOR nor GET BACK.

  2. I don't know why after all these years they couldn't still try to get DNA samples — ?
and USUALLY THE INNOCENCE PROJECT DOES USE DNA to prove these people AREN'T GUILTY .
The fact that HE IS STILL LABELED AS GUILTY means THOSE CORRUPT COPS AND HIS LOUSY LAWYER WON'T be able to be SUED
… and this is WHY they need to get this ADDRESSED and get the GUILTY verdict REMOVED
… and he would be able to SUE THEM and indeed he has the RIGHT to SUE them for EVERYTHING he can
    * in fact they need to get the LAWS CHANGED so that BAD COPS who do this go to PRISON .
And that when they get SUED — it comes out of their own MONEY and ESTATE , rather than from the TAXPAYERS MONEY .
Does poor man STILL has NOT GOTTEN the JUSTICE he deserves and this makes me HEART SICK and also sick to my stomach .
    😪😡😡😡😪
