Carly Gregg, 14, is accused of murdering her mother, Ashley Smylie, by shooting her three times and wounding her stepfather last March. Security cameras at the home in Rankin County, Mississippi recorded parts of the incident. Now, weeks ahead of her trial, Gregg has turned down a plea deal and is using an insanity defense. Legal insanity hardly ever flies even for people who are certifiably psychotic.
She's pleading insanity hoping to get out later on & carry on with her life. She should be put away. She's dangerous to others. The family standing behind her is crazy. I wouldn't want to welcome her home. She might get mad & all of a sudden kill again. Just my opinion. And the school girl uniform, really trying to make her appear like an innocent looking girl. 🙄
That smart and acting like she didn't know what would happen if she got a gun and shoot mom 3 times! Then the step-dad! This is evil and she needs prison till 40yrs old and see how she is as a adult! The whole 'I'm not dangerous, just because I killed my own mother. That was a one-off'. Defense is B.S., the only way you would know that is because you have a very clear idea of why this happened.
The amount of people who honestly think pulling the insane card is going to work after murder is laughable. I’d say okay. Go be insane in prison. why is the world so soft to such horrendous acts against peoples lives.
the kid was 14 years old and on lexapro ? and taking the ACT at 13 yrs old, usually a college admissions level test ? seems to me that mom was putting her under a lot of pressure to perform academically and the kid just snapped.

Just for some context. In virtually every developed country on the planet, this child would not be prosecuted as an adult. The minimum age is often 16 and even 18 in other countries. This is a ridiculous travesty of justice although it's in line with the vengeful, eye for an eye American justice system.
They are Stalling because they have Nothing. She was not insane all the doctors know it. It you are a Doctor would you want to attach your name to that demon?
