Teen murdered in home invasion – Everything Law and Order Blog

In this episode of Crime Watch Daily Updates: Vanessa Malone went by the name Honey, and that perfectly illustrated her bubbly and friendly persona. However, she died at the hands of a gunman, leaving her family and friends mourning.

In 2017, I traveled to the Atlanta suburb of Stone Mountain, Georgia, to learn more about Honey Malone’s death.

Despite its pretty name, Stone Mountain hasn’t always been the safest city, and Honey would, unfortunately, be the victim of a brutal and tragic crime.

On October 23, 2012, the 18-year-old came home from work and went over to her friend’s apartment. While there, several masked men allegedly kicked down the door in an apparent home invasion and tied up Honey’s friends with a belt, then left them in the shower. Honey, however, was shot in the back and the chest, then dragged through the apartment into the master bedroom closet.

Detectives believe it was a drug deal and home invasion gone wrong.

It would take nearly eight years for police to arrest a suspect in her death.

On April 3, 2020, the DeKalb County Police Department took 34-year-old Donald Ashe into custody on charges of second-degree murder and making false statements. He was initially denied bond, but in June 2020, a judge granted him bond, and he was later released. Donald reportedly received thousands of dollars in PPP loans, which were given out at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As of November 2022, he was still awaiting trial.

Let’s look back at the fatal shooting of a young woman who was in the wrong place at exactly the wrong time.

  1. The Detectives Was Dumb To Even Believe That Story 😒 Im Mad Because This Case Could’ve Been Solved It Took Them 8 Years To Solve A Murder That Could’ve Been Solved In A Month! I Think They Texted Honey While She Was At Work & Told Her To Come Over When She Got Off, So She Probably Didn’t Think Nothing Of It, I Think They Tried To Sex Traffic Her & When She Said “No” She Probably Tried To Walk Away & Mercy Shot Her In The Back & After She Hit The Ground He Shot Her In The Chest & I Think He Probably Had Some People Who He Knew Over & He Probably Accidentally Shot The Dude Who Was Shot In The Leg, While Trying To Shoot Honey 🤦🏽‍♀️

  2. I Knew That One Of Those So Called Friends Killed Honey, Her Family Knew They Were Lying, How The Hell The Police Didn’t Know That? They Lied About Being Tied Up & Robbed, Mercy Killed Her & All Of Them Lied About What Happened 🤦🏽‍♀️ The Police Should’ve Been Arrested Their Asses

  3. Honey"s mum is spot on with her theory. Why not tie her up too, nothing was taken in this so called robbery. The phone was taken to check if she had what she knew in there
May her loved ones find answers

  4. Anna Garcia, “Stone Mountain is said to be one of the most dangerous cities in Georgia!”? How do you figure?! And exactly where’d you get your incorrect facts from? You’re lying like a cross tire and you know it. You sound very ignorant making that statement. Please stop misrepresenting.

Look up Stone Mountain for yourselves people because to my knowledge it is definitely one of the safest places among many in Georgia.

How sad of you to have to stoop so low in an attempt to make your story sound better.

  5. How traumatic for the new renters, I hope the police catch the killer of that young sweet lady. The renter should have sued management for not cleaning up the apartment before they moved in

  6. What a pretty girl. She was so young. I wish she had gotten to live longer, her family deserved more time with her. Rest in peace Honey.

  7. Look at those 2…money and guns….🤮
How oldare those sob's? I relly feel sorry for America and normal ppl. Obviously jail's ain't working..

  8. Don't take my comment the wrong way, this whole case is tragic. With that being said, what kind of slum lord doesn't tear up that carpet and replace it before trying to rent the place again? I won't even get into not disclosing to new renters what happened in the apartment in the past. I scrolled down to the comments to make sure I wasn't somehow be insensitive to the real issue of the crime and saw that I'm not the only person that this fact stood out to.

  9. I'm sorry but she knew who she was around and this is the type of stuff that happens around those people but I would pay attention to her friends in that apartment cause none of that makes any sense at all

  10. First who moves in an Apartment with a strained, dirty rug ???, It was a trap house sorry she lost her life, dirty dirty friends. R.I.P Honey !!!

  11. So how was she innocent I hate when somebody dies then the family comes out making it seem like they so innocent and sweet lol 😆 nah she liked hanging around gangstas, dope sellers, she hung around trap houses and someone went to rob the trap, and she was there like she was always so I don't feel bad at all

  12. The apartment is trifling and disgusting how you going to move a family in a apartment and not pull up the old carpet and put new carpet down so that let you know they didn't even repaint the apartment or nothing just disgusting

  13. Damn. Cases like this are common? Makes me think that Idaho case will also be talked about several years later like this case. so sad
