A now-16-year-old Wisconsin boy is accused of killing 10-year-old Lily Peters and sexually assaulting her body before leaving her in a wooded area not far from her home. Attorneys for the teen, identified in court documents as C.T.P.-B., appealed a district court’s decision to keep their client’s case in adult court, arguing it should be moved to the juvenile court system. This guest is the worst. Flawed logic,. Boy, am I glad I am not his child. When presented with all the claims the defense had put up, he just responds with "the crime was horrible and he needs to be punished." Sheesh.
It's a 14yo kid with certain very specific personality vulnerabilities, who has been shown the wrong example by the adult role models in his life. Add to that that a 14 yo brain is not fully developed by a long shot, let alone the 14yo brain of this kid with ASD. you CANNOT simply state that "he thought of it s he needs to be brutally punished as an adult." Just not fair. The kid does not have the same cause-effect threads in his brain like an emotionally stable, neurotypical adult man does. The two simply don't compare in no way.
Yes, it was horrible what he did. Yes, he needs to know that these aren't the things humans are supposed to be doing to each other. But to first royally fuq up a kid's upbringing, then witness him doing horrible things as a result of that upbringing, while still in his underdeveloped, puberty-hormone-driven boy brain, and then blaming the kid for fuqqing up when he's basically only executing what he's been show about how the world works… That is just NOT FAIR.
