It started in the guest bedroom of the Van Buren house: Gruesome stains mark the spot where Ruie Ann Park was beaten, then dragged through the hallway around a scattered pile of books and into the den, where she was found. It took at least 10 blows to end the 75-year-old woman’s life, and to begin one of the most twisted murder mysteries the state of Arkansas has ever seen. From 2016: https://bit.ly/3BzvlQi

  1. It wasn't because he was gay. 🤦🏽‍♀️ I just listened to an in depth podcast about this case. They focused on Sam because he lived 50 feet away, had a key to the house and didn't have anyone that could witness his alibi. It had nothing to do with "homophobia". FFS, just stop this nonsense.

  2. They can’t just say the only 2 people who had access to her home had keys so they are the suspects she could have easily let someone in the door that she knew but I guess they had probable cause to narrow it down to those 2 keys.

  3. 9:03 LOL a gay man kill his mother?? A daughter would kill a mother wayyyyy before a gay son would… Gay son is the least likely combo to kill their mother!

  4. Lets stop with the poor Linda crap. I’d say she got pampered for only serving 4 years for a vicious murder like that. Not to mention contributing to the death of her only brother too.

  5. I knew Sam didn't do it. He'd been a prosecutor and was a lawyer, he wouldn't have been that stupid, plus he was an alcoholic so it made sense he was passed out. This story is tragic for both Linda and especially Sam. The mother didn't deserve to die that way, but be a nasty person and karma always comes for you. Thank God the prosecutor wasn't so narrow minded and looked at further evidence! Love older cases and one that was under the half hour.

  6. No matter what one cannot justify or condone murderof another human or even any other living creatures
. This is theproblem with the west like us, uk, canada, etc. Pleading insanity unhappy childood psychological problems etc etc etc. Give a break with this litany of excuses.

  7. I always spoil myself with the comments before & seeing the adoption comments & things threw me off. My dad was adopted & I would never use that as a reason of understanding. But after watching and hearing the last part where she just wanted her mom & her mom treated her bad, I get it. You grow up thinking you have no family, as she was adopted later in life, then you get it and it’s not love. You grow up & deal with real life & all you want is that family support to realize you not only don’t have it, but they CHOSE you & you still don’t have it. It’s traumatic. She snapped. Sad but true.

  8. Sad for Sam everyone thought he killed his mother. He lost everything down to drinking himself to death. Sam chose to drink and give up on life. Yet his sister didn't have to be raised in a orphanage her whole life. She was given a good life compared to many many children. The mother couldn't accept a child that wasn't perfect or maybe she just enjoyed her as someone to put down. The Devil walks among us as the evil words that come out of the mouth, as rage, as a bottle of booze.

  9. I feel sorry for both Sam and Linda to have a mother like that. On top, Sam was driven to alcohol by the homophobic society while Linda was failed by the two people who was supposed to love her. Of course not everyone reacts the same way under the same stress. I had a scum as a husband and my mother was nowhere caring and loving, but I survived as a single parent and dedicated to bringing up my kids and they love me so.

  10. The mom was a fucking narcissist, only adopting the little girl so that she could be looked at like a good person, causing damage along the way.

  11. At least someone didn't say "They were a great person who didn't have an enemy in the world. Everyone liked them. I can't think of anyone who would want to harm them." Thank you, Anita for telling us how Ruie Ann actually was. 😫

Edit: There's nothing wrong with being a good person or "lighting up a room" but anyone who has watched Dateline knows how a good 90% of people talk about someone they know.

  12. Linda was basically emotionally and probably physically abused by her mother and then her husband which pushed her to this. Her mother was clearly a monster and if people are saying she was not that nice of a person, then maybe her big mouth got her in this mess.

  13. As soon as I saw his picture as I child I said to myself “ gay for sure “ lol. Not that there is anything wrong with being gay, I’m a homosexual myself, but I just think it’s crazy how you can see it so early in age.

  14. Poor Sam. Many adopted kids have complex hate towards the people who care for them. Dunno why they get punished for givinv them kids a new life

  15. I've known quite a few people like Ruie Park in my life who always thought more of themselves than was warranted. They live to make others miserable. Actually they are nothing more than a shell of a person. Treating people like garbage always generates bad feelings…can't really feel sorry for her. Life is what you make it and hers lead her to her end like this.

  16. Ppl always say "Obey your parents or your days shall be longer on earth" but fail to mention "Don't provoke your kids to wrath" …—-Bible verses.
