This is a supposedly free country, yet people are forced to do jury duty. Ridiculous.

The sleepiness thing at the time Jesse Weber argues is "when jurors are usually glued to the case" is not the juror just "not paying attention". I'll bet this juror has excessive daytime sleepiness from a sleep disorder (which is an irresistible level of sleepiness), especially if the juror was only asleep for seconds. I get that attentiveness is important; however, I wish that it were not discussed as if it were behavioral when it is clearly a medical issue.

The level of stupidity on display here is insane. It just goes to show that the defence regularly chooses people precisely for their stupidity and ignorance – as opposed to rational, fair thinking – in relation to the trials of the famous.
