“Rust” armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed heads to trial this week for two counts of involuntary manslaughter. Prosecutors believe she violated safety standards on a New Mexico movie set which led to the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. The young mom was hit by a live bullet — instead of a blank — from a prop gun that was fired by actor Alec Baldwin. If convicted, Gutierrez faces up to three years in prison.

  1. Everything was sloppy , the storage handling and supply of deadly weapons and ammunition the handling of such by those charged with doing so ( including the cast ) the police handling of the crime scene and subsequent investigation was also sloppy.

There is more than one person that needs to take responsibility for this tragedy. And no way should a person that tampered with evidence ( throwing away ammunition after the death) should be offered immunity from prosecution 😮

Let's hope lesdons have been learned .

  2. At the end of the day Alec Baldwin is the only one that pointed the gun at the deceased and pulled the trigger which was not part of the script, whether the staff share blame in the incident is a question. But the crime of homocide is 100% Baldwins

  3. Sounds like the whole operation was a big mess and safety was not a priority for this crew. Seems like everyone is calling out the all the safety protocols that were ignored but no one seemed to step up and call it out before someone got shot. Also, heard someone imply the gun may have been used for shooting offsite using live rounds. If there were the case and safety protocol ignored then a live round could have easily ended up on on set.

  4. 6:09 Hannah handed the gun to Halls, who gave it to Baldwin. Hannah was not on set during rehearsal or could've stopped the gun pointing. Why? And what happened with the gun between her handing it off & Baldwin's wrecklessness. ?
(In his pleas sentencing hearing and his LE interviews halls said he himself has given the weapon to Baldwin. On the stand, he changed his story

  5. Baldwin the bully..is responsible for the armorer and more as a director. Guilty.
Alex, was so up on his normal high horse, that he refused training..on gun handle.
He is more guilty than anyone!

  6. OMG Ive worked on movies for 33 years. This armorer is a child. Never should she have applied for this position and never should the producer have given her this job. That is her crime along with her gross negligence and ignorance. Every movie I’ve worked on with weapons has an experienced, professional armorer handling the guns and no less than 20 years worth of credentials. The producers are second to blame for having hired an armorer that was basically a kid, along with her “just out of high school” Propmaster. They really cut corners for the sake of money which cost someone their life. Watching this trial unfold was a display of the D List of low budget crew. Total Dog and Pony show!

  7. The defenses argument about a nurse not being responsible if the pharmacy mislabels a drug and she gives it to a patient sounds more like an argument for Baldwin than Gutierrez.

  8. This is by far not justice! A wet behind the ears young girl is given a job and she has no guidance and no support. In actual fact her job is made almost impossible. What does stand out to me is how everyone turned their back on her, that they are suing for money, that they are not taking responsibility for not standing up sooner or taking leadership. This youngster is destroyed even before her working career had a chance. I found Alec Baldwin's actions highly immature as well. One thing I have learnt is a Boss has a title, a Leader has people. There was zero professionalism or leadership here.

  9. Lol this court is a joke. Alec Baldwin the man that pulled the trigger gets away scot free. The people who brought live rounds on set get away scot free.
The director who allowed a real gun on set gets away scot free.
The armorer who wasn't even there gets sent to prison. That's your corrupt justice system for you.

  10. You should do a show about What the Hales YouTuber. He is being railroaded by a judge who should recuse himself. Now it has been stayed with a motion writ of probation. It’s absolutely outrageous. DUI guy, Megan Fox, popcorn planet and the umbrella guy are helping full force.

  11. If this is how movie sets are run it’s amazing that there aren’t people killed every day. The pervasive lack of fail-safes, the incompetence, the ignorance and, yes, the sheer bravado is shocking. And sadly, I don’t think any of these people “get it”. They’re all on the stand talking about their long careers and “expertise”. No one was demonstrating any thing remotely near “expertise” on that set. How do people get jobs like this with no obvious vetting of their training or competence? How is there no real chain of command/authority/responsibility, where everyone points the finger when something goes horribly wrong? A person can’t even give someone a haircut without proving their training, without demonstrating their competence and without having oversight and licensure by some agency. And here you have idiots playing with guns and ammo who have absolutely no concept of the mere basics of gun safety. Not the least of which is Alec Baldwin, who unholstered a gun when he wasn’t supposed to, who cocked a gun, who pointed a gun at a human being and who inexplicably pulled the trigger on that gun. Anyone who uses the phrase “the gun went off” has no business ever being near, let alone handling, a firearm. Many individuals failed in this scenario. However, if this is standard practice, there is plenty of blame to go around. Their industry as a whole failed as did their unions. There should be MANY people, not just one, going to jail, again, not the least of which is Alec Baldwin. In this cascade of incompetence and carelessness, his action was the pivotal moment where tragedy could have been averted. I and hope he hears the sound of that gunshot every day for the rest of his life, knowing, at the end of the day, that his reckless behavior was the final and ultimate failure in this fiasco.

  12. I cant believe how many people are still making excuses for this woman. She took a job and that job was to make sure people were checking and using firearms properly. She clearly didnt do that. Period.

  13. It was exactly her job. She was the one who said the gun was good to go. I see your point that there were other people involved. But she was hired as a specialist to deal with guns.

  14. Her “best in the business” dad probably should take responsibility for this tragedy also. He obviously thought by bringing your kid to work day is some sort of actual training. He set her up for failure as many in the film industry do.

  15. You don’t need years of experience to be an armorer on a movie set. A trained monkey could do it. If actors are not expected to follow the basic rules of gun safety then this is the primary fault of the mgmt, guilds, etc. Hiring a young, timid inexperienced woman with green hair and a coke habit was the other mistake

  16. The “last” line of defense was literally not pointing a real gun at someone and pulling the trigger not knowing yourself if it’s loaded or not. The armorer is arguably the first line or maybe second to last line.

  17. I don’t doubt the young women’s culpability. However, why did the movie producer have such an inexperienced armorer in the first place? Of course it’s cheaper but they are more susceptible to intimidation by pushy directors and producers. Most twenty four year olds (without military experience) should not be in charge of weapon safety on a movie set. I started hunting at age 7 and I’m 63 now. I guarantee I know more about weapons safety than this 24 year old but I’m not at all qualified to be an armorer on a movie set. The Rust producer/actor is just as culpable here. Unfortunately, they have the money to get the best lawyers.

  18. AND WITH MY PHARMACY EXPERIENCE AND YOU TALKING ABOUT HANNAH STANDING UP TO ALEC BALDWIN, THAT IS HER JOB AND I WAS A TECHNICIAN STRAIGHT OUT OF A 10 MONTH CERTIFICATION CLASS AND I SAW CRAZY STUFF GOING ON AND THE OWNER/PHARMACIST WAS GOING TO LET A DOSE OF NUCLEAR MEDICINE INTO A CHILD THAT WAS THE WRONG DOSE AND I TOLD HIM THAT HE NEEDED TO CALL THE DOCTOR AND TELL HIM THAT YOU HAVE TO REMAKE THAT DOSE AND HE WOULDN'T. I WAS ONLY THERE FOR ABOUT 6-8 MONTHS AND I GOT ON THE PHONE AND SPOKE TO THE DOCTOR AND THE PHARMACIST WAS EXTREMELY UPSET AND THREATENED TO FIRE ME. I DIDN'T CARE IF HE DID, I WASN'T GOING TO STAND AROUND WHILE HE WAS DOING RIDICULOUS AND DANGEROUS THINGS. I CONTINUED TO WORK THERE JUST TO GET AS MUCH EVIDENCE AS I COULD. I CALLED THE BOARD OF PHARMACY AND TURNED HIM IN FOR THAT INCIDENT AND THE FACT HE WAS COMMITTING INSURANCE FRAUD, HIS WIFE WAS COMING IN AND HELPING HERSELF TO ANY PRESCRIPTION DRUG SHE WANTED AND THE PHARMACIST TRIED TO GIVE A PATIENT THE WRONG DRUG WHEN I WAS WALKING IN THE DOOR. THE PATIENT WAS TELLING HIM THAT THE PILLS LOOKED DIFFERENT AND HE TOLD HER THAT HE GOT A DIFFERENT MANUFACTURER SO THE PILLS LOOK DIFFERENT. HE WALKED TO THE BACK AND I ASKED THE PATIENT TO SEE THE PILLS AND I KNEW IMMEDIATELY THAT IT WAS COMPLETELY THE WRONG DRUG. I GOT THE RIGHT DRUG AND FLUSHED THE ONES HE GAVE HER. IT WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN LIFE THREATENING IF SHE TOOK IT BUT THE FACT THAT THE PHARMACIST WAS WILLING TO LET PEOPLE GET THE WRONG THING INSTEAD OF ADMITTING HE MADE A MISTAKE. THE BOARD OF PHARMACY TOOK MY STATEMENT AND ALL THE PILES OF EVIDENCE I HAD COLLECTED AND I ENDED UP QUITTING AND THE PHARMACIST GOT HIS BUSINESS TAKEN AWAY AND HIS LICENSE AS A PHARMACIST WAS SUSPENDED FOR 7 YEARS, HE WAS FINED 250,000 DOLLARS AND THAT WAS A PLEA DEAL. NO ONE COULD BELIEVE THAT I WOULD RISK MY CAREER IN PHARMACY AS A TECHNICIAN GOING UP AGAINST THE PHARMACIST WITHIN MONTHS OF THE START OF MY PHARMACY CAREER. I DIDN'T WANT ANYONE TO GET HURT SO I DIDN'T THINK ABOUT MYSELF AND WORRY ABOUT A CAREER. I DIDN'T CARE ABOUT MYSELF. THERE ARE PLENTY OF JOBS OUT THERE AND I GOT A JOB IN THE HOSPITAL PHARMACY AND WAS GRANTED EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR THE FIRST YEAR I WAS THERE. ❤

  19. YOU ARE AMAZING. I HAVE WATCHED THIS TRIAL AND I LOVE THE PROSECUTOR AND I WOULD LIKE TO SEE HANNAH GET CHARGED WITH MANSLAUGHTER CUZ SHE IS GUILTY. I LIKE THE NURSE GIVING THE WRONG DRUG WHEN THE PHARMACY SENT IT TO THEM. I WORKED IN PHARMACY AND HOSPITAL PHARMACY AND I KNEW MY JOB AND THOUSANDS OF DRUGS AND I COULD KILL SOMEONE IF I DIDN'T DO MY JOB. YOU NEVER GET COMPLACENT WITH YOUR JOB AND I KNOW OF A PHARMACIST THAT WAS PUT ON PROBATION AND A NURSE GETTING FIRED FOR GIVING THE WRONG DOSE TO A PATIENT. THERE IS A CHAIN OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND YOU DON'T JUST TRUST YOU ARE GIVING THE RIGHT DOSE, YOU CHECK IT. YOU ALWAYS CHECK IT NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU DO IT. ❤

  20. Total BS she's not a violent person this was an accident I don't see why they're treating her like this was murder. I feel terrible for her mother I think she could have been released pending sentencing

  21. She should have pled guilty, would have maybe got 6 months and it would already be in the past for her. HOW would she think it was NOT her responsibility? Is she claiming someone else put the live bullet in? Would still make her responsible.
