Former Columbus police vice squad officer Andrew Mitchell was indicted on murder and voluntary manslaughter charges for the death of 23-year-old Donna Castleberry. Mitchell went to trial in the spring of 2022, but in April, a judge declared a mistrial because jurors couldn’t reach a unanimous verdict. On the night Castleberry was killed, Mitchell allegedly picked her up in an unmarked police car during an undercover prostitution sting. Mitchell claims Castleberry stabbed him, so he shot her out of self defense. However, during the first trial, prosecutors said that she was shot in the back of Mitchell’s car while attempting to escape.

They never ask why he took her to that place

The prosecutor did a poor job, and the defense was more aggressive in this trial!!! I think he was guilty. But like always the cops get away with the crime
This doesn't surprise me the prosecution was useless. If you have to shoot that slowly at a person trapped in the back of a car you cant shoot straight…I come from a formerly gun owning family as I live in the uk we had all our guns removed post hungerford. I think he got into a temper tantrum with a lass who's used to having to protect herself and after ( imo) he grabbed her knife cutting his hand he shot very slowly and deliberately..but still missedx3 times so he's a useless marksman!!. Sadly we're so used to seeing police shootings I've never seen one this slow and omg, comming from a target rifle shooting family where we shot accuraltly at various hundred yards this officer was useless he only shot her 3 times out of 6 at very close rage…abysmal. If she had been a bad guy the cop would be f….d because he missed so many times…he had a tantrum and imo he shot her and murdered her in this incident he's a murderer.
Who brings a gun to Knife fight????
She was screaming I'm sorry stop…e did….he's a murderer…another judicial disgrace.
Absolutely the right decision!!! Well done that jury!
Interesting argument.
I struggle to understand how he was not found guilty. The crucial detail to me was the fact that he fired all those shots and over a relatively long interval of time. I cannot bring myself to believe that self defense can look like that.
Amen!!!
He still has an uphill battle with all the federal charges.
What happen first trial he got retrial
The myth of the 21-foot rule is that if a person has a deadly weapon inside 21 feet, you should shoot them, which is clearly not the case. If a person has a deadly weapon and is within 21 feet or closer, officers should implement their primary response tactics to a contact weapon threat
The cult of law enforcement reigns.
Very happy for him, good luck
Prosecution team was horrible!
Awe
I'm so happy for him.
NO JUSTICE!
Extremely disappointing, too bad he's about to be done by the feds for being the disgusting human being he is. The justice system is always rigged to favour cops even when they're in the wrong, they always protect each other sadly.
Not surprised. I Should become a cop. Then I will be worshipped like a God. But seriously, no thanks.
Bravo. Not guilty. Excellent.
Lol called it been saying this in the live chat
Correct result
To the people bashing the prosecutors for bringing this to trial, that woman deserved some type of justice. She was obviously afraid for her life and should not have been shot. The cop was just protected by too many legal loopholes. Trying a losing case was the only justice they could give her.
Very surprising. Now, he's off to Federal court!
You mean non-killer policeman….
Facts should always matter when it comes to cases.
I haven’t watched this trial and I’m not familiar with the case, but why was it a retrial? Had he been found guilty the first time and was this an appeal? It was the first trial a mistrial?
Called it.
I was expecting a guilty on manslaughter. Wow!
Wow I’m so shocked it was a unanimous not guilty! Very happy with the verdict as I felt it was the only way to go but I also assumed it would be a hung jury. Hope the jury can get some rest now
Shame on you Law & Crime Trial Network, you never label any other "cop"trials, "KILLER COP!" Check your Amber Guyger & Derrick Chauvin posts among others. You need to re-examine your motives as well, very disgusting!!!
