I love how Mr Douglas often talks in streams of consciousness, sometimes speaking in parentheses.
It shows that his brain is still quite functional, despite the effects of the anxiety issues he had way back when. 💚
Thank you John Douglas for helping the Family. Thank you
I know this was 2 years ago but I had the privilege to meet my hero since I was 14, John Douglas, at the last CrimeCon in Nashville. He's such a dynamic speaker and his special event to meet and greet but then also listen to him talk was unmatched! He's so interesting but also is just a fun loving funny guy who reminds you that during the darkest you need to also have perspective and humor. I've read all of his books and to have my first book I ever had of his, Crime Classification Manual, signed was basically a bucket list item.
Just always provides the best interviews and you learn so much.
If LGB didn’t call the Smith family, could he still have been caught? Would he have gotten to Dawn instead of Debra. Without the calls, the Sheppards would have had no tapes to listen to. Would LGB had killed Dawn if he had gotten to her? There are people who survived being kidnapped via release, escape, or rescue. However; they’re often broken & devastated plus difficult to repair. Liz Smart, Kara Robinson, Lisa McVey Noland, & Tina Marie Risico are such survivors.
Did Shari Smith help Kara Robinson escape from Richard Evonitz?
Very good listening..
Mister Douglas…! Ohh hello
And hello young woman, thank you for such an esteemed guest
Mister Douglas, I read your take on Charles Manson… how he was NOT the frenzied mastermind of crime but in fact, was a hanger on, and the girls barely tolerated him. Other men bullied him, he was found hiding under the kitchen sink …? Because he had been sent in to get beers for the others when the farm got raided..?
Loved “Mind Hunter”
Mindhunter rockstarh!!
John, one of the Worst PTSD cases I ever had was a US Army Dog Handler who was airlifted into HOT ZONES to work his dog, with no rest, time after time after time for over a year, so he was in contact with enemy action 30, 60, 90 days with his dog to track down enemies. It really wrecked psychologically, neither he or the dog ever wounded, but nothing but stress. I researched it and the longest stretch of contact was the US Marines in WWII in the South Pacific for 20 days straight, so this Army Dog Handler was by far the worst PTSD case I ever worked with.
I've watched the FBI Files for years – I still listen to them at work on my phone lol but more specifically, this episode – was some how different. The writing was superb — all that inof in 60 minutes and it has touched me ever since. To have such faith — my goodness this brave yound woman and her poor parents who had to live through that. Thank goodness we have people in the world like John. Thank you for giving your life to this job and thanks to your family as well. thankyouthankyouthankyou
I love John Douglas.
I literally love John Douglas ❤️ he has helped so many people
Here is a man worthy of a Noble Peace Prize he has made a huge contribution to humanity.
@Ana if ypu could fully understand serial killers you could BE one. Be glad you can't fully grasp them.
Triple A rickrolled me, thanks ad
Yes, Douglas is older and does tend to run off at the mouth a little, but, my god, you're the most annoying interviewer I've ever heard. Shut up occasionally, and let your subject talk.
On May 3121, 1985 two days before her high school graduation. Shari Smith was abducted from the driveway of her family home in South Carolina. So the story begins, and I am sure they were watching her from afar, there a lot of nasty dirty men out there, whether prejudice or not they want to rape your vanity. Basically, you need to prepare and fight like a injun and take them down with you or without you, don't give them their freedom in exchange for yours.
It sounds like John Douglas had a stroke.
Can't get enough of this story telling. Thank you both ❤stay safe 🙏🏻
They played the movie at my high school in the 90s I remember it ..
Just wondering if one of those SC solicitors was a Murdaugh??? around 27:45
Will there ever be another John? It’s almost
Uncanny how
His
Mind works.
This case haunts my thoughts – it is unforgettable. I saw it on FBI files and/or forensic files
I think years ago and it was one of
The most creepy, scary, sad stories. Check it
Out everyone (if you can handle it) as there is more detail in the episode(s).
Shame they didn’t think of the legal pad before 9 year old Debra Helmick was abducted. Lived in the area at the time and to say it was terrifying is an understatement.
Excellent. So fascinating.
Not crazy. Evil.
John Douglas has a very unique mind and very rare gift. His books are fascinating, especially the earlier ones where he shares a bit about how his work affected his children. He saw the most horrifying evil and he knew his children were innocent and naive of that evil out there. It's really not surprising that his brain exploded with what he saw and thought about and his immense workload. He's an amazing person who has made a big difference in this world. Glad you had him on!
I could listen to him tell stories all day long….he gets to the absolute horror of these criminals….but does it in a way that I don't feel like vomiting…ty John!!!+!!
Koalas are not bears. It's a koala, not a koala bear.
He has lots of thoughts and thinks so fast, him speaking his thoughts gets slowed down. I'm am the same way, especially if I'm excited about the information I'm sharing.
I'd like to have lunch with him one day.
Im so glad i found this, I absolutely love hearing JOhn Douglas. Hes amazing! Thank you Ive read all his books except this new one.
So informative ❤❤
