Back in June 2013, an eight-year-old girl named Cherish Perrywinkle was abducted in a Florida Walmart while she was shopping with her mother. The mother and daughter were lured by 56-year-old Donald Smith, who said he would help the struggling family buy new clothes and treat them to McDonald’s. What came next for the little girl was truly horrifying. Annie Elise breaks down the details of what happened next on 10 to Life.

  1. I heard he serenaded her with 98 Degrees' "I Do (Cherish You)" as he was assaulting her. I bet he didn't even buy her the cheeseburger. What a jerk.

  2. is this lady trying to stand up for the p.o.s. mother. no dude she wanted clothes and she let some dude walk out with her child. what a joke. idgaf you never let a strager take your kid anywhere. no she wasn't trying to be polite she wanted f**** clothes 🤦

  3. Out of the thousands of predators I have seen or heard about, this is one of the most despicable ever!!! Not only he did comit these assaults, abuse and m*rde*s, but he showed NO remorse and kept looking at some of the surviving victims with intimidation, with that smirk in his face; like he felt satisfied of hearing them testify. Probably hearing their testimony all over again makes him relive and fantasize the moments as a form of pleasure!? Disgusting!!! 🤔😔

  4. 1. If she was staying an extended amount of time the Dad should have purchased her clothes or have a closet for her already set up.
    2. Mom should be in jail for allowing a stranger take her daughter to try on clothes. She didn't need that dress that badly
    3. Learn how to budget better instead of selling your daughter for items.

  5. Im tripping off how you dont want a "stranger" to feel like you are an overprotective parent! This is the reason why it was so easy for him to take her. She shouldve just let him go on about his business even if u were feeling desperate and yall got to walmart, she shouldnt have let her child run freely with this man. If he never gave u the gift card, that baby wouldve been safe! He couldve went to Mc Donalds by his self…… maybe he wouldve left if she had kept her kids close to her. This is sad!!!!! Its a lot of why's and what ifs!

  6. I understand being upset with the mother. No one offers money for no reason. How was her daughter supposed to know not to talk to strangers when you just hopped in the car with him for a gift card.

  7. Look at him. If your trying to understand how he kept getting let out. Look at him look at the people in charge They saw themselves in him and gave him the benefit of the doubt ppl in charge cared more about protecting him than women and children. And that’s crazy. Society needs to check itself

  8. Every time I went to the Walmart on Lem Turner when I lived in Jacksonville, I thought about sweet , precious Cherish and could not ever stop at the McDonalds located inside the store. Rip beautiful child

  9. The mistake with the cops, the first mistake, was the 911 operator who didnt report it was an ABDUCTION, it was more then a MISSING,or LOST CHILD! Horrible situation ….

  10. I do not agree that the mother was a victim. When you decide to lay and have children you have a RESPONSIBILITY TO PROTECT YOUR CHILDS LIFE AS IF YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT. Period

  11. I'm sorry but I can't overlook the absolute nonsense behavior it was to allow a strange man to take your child to a dressing room.

  12. I’m sorry but this “mom” must be the stupidest person in the world. I’m so upset that her stupidity caused the horrific death of her innocent daughter. That interview with her saying “I told her to never go with strangers” – disgusting. I see her as a person who won’t admit fault to her bad choices. I’m glad her other children were taken away. My heart breaks for Cherish’s father. RIP sweet girl 😢

  13. The system failed victim after victim of this man over and over again.
He should have been put under the jail long before this ever took place.

  14. 8:40 For anyone wondering about this… Dollar stores when they were first a thing actually were $1… about 25-30 years ago mass-produced toxic crap from China could be cheaply imported in bulk, and $1 was still allowing stores to make a profit. But with inflation, that model wasn't sustainable and a lot of so-called dollar-stores soon took on more vague names like "A Buck or Two". The true days of dollar stores are probably behind us at this point. Unless you're really getting garbage.

  15. I am glad the kids are being raised by her sister, because now 100% without a doubt, she will never be in her right mind. We live in a cruel world these days, trust NO ONE with your babies.
I get called a smother by my girls all the time, because i never allowed them to just spend the night away from home, or take off with friend's like i did as a child.

  16. I’m sorry but she isn’t the brightest! She’s the reason I believe you should have a licence to have children 🤬

  17. Like the very first red flag was that he made you go to another store should have never left that store he should have been able to get you everything you needed right there Southside philosophy of beautiful daughter

  18. I can’t even imagine allowing a stranger to go into a dressing room with my daughter she should be ashamed of herself

  19. Ok all the blame can't be put on the mother! How about his mother having some blame, what kind of mother was his mother! Did she see red flags when he was younger or older! Did she get help for I or report him
