The family of Maya Kowalski, the subject of Netflix’s “Take Care of Maya,” allege that a report of child abuse from Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital led to Beata Kowalski taking her own life. The Kowalski’s are suing doctors, the Department of Children and Families, and Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital for $200 million dollars in connection to Beata’s death. According to court documents, the child abuse case against Beata was pushed forward after Maya’s physician confirmed her condition, complex regional pain syndrome, was not the fault of her parents. During the time Beata was separated from Maya, she took her own life.

  1. I don't know why they tried to drag the social media aspect for Beata, everyone is a crime buff now and/or we are watching 100's of hours of trials.

  2. This people have some really twisted perspectives of child behavior, they also seem to have a great deal of disdain for the child.

  3. 1:38:07 : The look that Plaintiff’s Attorney Anderson gives to the jury right here is SO UNPROFESSIONAL. I find him a little tacky and off putting.

From reading the comments – it seems I might be alone in that but… not a fan so far.

  4. I suffer from Fibromyalgia. I am in pain 24/7 a day. My pain meds do lessen the pain somewhat but when I am stressed out the pain is so much more intense that the meds don't even seem to help.

  5. Have you all noticed that when the defense's witness are all confident with their testimonies while talking with the defense lawyers, but when the plaintiff lawyers cross examines them they are not 😅

  6. I absolutely hate how people are talking crap about a woman who's no longer around & cannot defend herself. Plus, talking smack about a literal child… Your don't have to agree with them, but have some respect. It's disgusting, people will only say things like this when they're behind a computer screen. Losers.

  7. Man this judge never misses an opportunity to be buddy-buddy with defense or convey to the family/family’s counsel that they’re annoying, petty, inconvenient & and exhaustive, does he? Between him & defense, the amount of attempts to silence them & field their attempts to overlook fine details & correct confusion/ill information, both on the record and directly to the jury, are profoundly telling. The judge tries every chance he gets to deny backtracking & decline to clarify for the jury things that defense fights to have corrected. Dude seriously said that he’s not staying to put proper effort & dedication into jury instructions. Straight up says he has better things to do. Notice how defense counsel looks appalled & immediately jots down note of it. The justice system is disgusting & I hope next steps include nailing them to the wall as well, in all involved jurisdictions. The courts, by design, have made it possible for healthcare providers & insurance companies to do stuff like this, unscathed, for decades. I’m no flaming liberal by any means, but it’s high time these partnerships are exposed & dismantled on the whole.

  8. o. m. g. she is totally faking it in that video. i have not seen any visual evidence of Maya in the level of pain which has been purported. I think Maya, as a child who didn't know any better, learned to use "i'm in pain" to get attention from her mother and just kept on going with it eventually finding herself in a complicated, confusing position from which she could not get out of. Her mother believed her, always believed her and gave Maya the attention she was craving. As she got older she stopped doing this and today is a normal healthy adolescent. Unfortunately the damage had been done and her mother is dead. Rather than blame themselves and take on the pain and responsibility for their own lives, the family wants to blame the hospital. I believe it was Maya's behavior as a child which was allowed to go on unabated which caused her mother's death. She was extremely spoiled, never disciplined, given anything she wanted and was never doubted or corrected. The end of this scenario unfortunately was very tragic. The parents themselves, mainly Beata, are to blame and Beata deep down knew this. Upon realizing her failure as a parent, as a mother, she killed herself. I believe the time away from Maya allowed Beata to see the situation for what it truly was: Maya had created this nightmare herself and Beata let her. Rather than face Maya and finally discipline her (which would have been very painful for Beata), admit to the hospital she was wrong, accept the pile of money wasted, face her husband, her son, her family, herself, rather than do all of that painful, overwhelming stuff, she just ended it. Maya was faking it. Her Dad knew it, Maya now knows it and her brother if he hasn't already will realize it as well. Show me a video or a picture of Maya in extrutiating pain and all you will see is a dramatic little child actress. But find the video or picture first.

  9. Beata must have truly been out of her mind to bring her beautiful child to some of these quacks who poured dangerous drugs into her. JHACH saved Maya’s life. However, the damage all these drugs did was probably irreversible. A more wholistic approach with diet, PT, OT, and counseling would have had a much better outcome. And Beata would still be alive. Such a tragic case.

  10. Just a thought – setting aside the overall importance of this case – Fair to say (?) HOSPITAL CARE IN AMERICA IS BIG BUSINESS!!! Makes me nervous. Stay healthy, America, and don't get old! (winky face)

  11. so his treatment was a success due to the time she had a better quality of life (8 months before a flare). But she's had an even better quality of life for longer (still with flares- i'm NOT saying she's cured) without ketamine since then. So by Dr Hanna's explanation, PT is a success.

  12. So Johns Hopkins, all Children’s Hospital was on the verge of losing their joint commission accreditation because they had systemic failure that caused patients their lives.

  13. Look up the Jensen case in Pennsylvania and look
Up John Stewart from sally smith . Tell
Me if this family is make stuff up . Sally smith never presented the other doctors files to the court . Why not ? If she thought she right ??
