Now he’s a private investigator and consultant, and he’s the author of the Dickie Floyd Detective Novel series.
Smith’s new book “Nothing Left to Prove: A Law Enforcement Memoir” tells the stories of some of the cases from his days on the job, including the 2003 murder of William Whiteside, a hospital maintenance worker in California. Whiteside’s burned corpse was found in the trunk of his car two weeks after going missing. His live-in girlfriend was convicted of murder and sentenced to death. Some people should never have been born. These people are brute beasts. It’s shocking how many inhumane people there are in this world.
This was a great episode and Danny Smith is so open and genuine. I’m excited to read his book. ❤😊
I have no words to say what they did to this man r.i.p. William and to Danny hope he is healing with his PTSD sending love ❤️ peace and strength to him love from Ireland
I think this is known as a Cuckoo Crime here in the UK, where criminals take over the home of a vulnerable person while the person is still living there and some of the vulnerable people suffer terrible treatment and even death in their own home.
It’s so awful, poor man
I think she got the death penalty for a couple of reasons. First one being l don't believe she didn't know William was still alive. He might have even tried to call out for her from the trunk, and she heard it, who knows??🤷 But William knew his attacker was her son, so before he died William would have figured out the creature he cated for was involved.
A second reason being that she was the planner behind it all. And third but most important of all, she involved KIDS in the plot, including her OWN CHILD!! There is no judge or jury full of parents who'd be able to stomach that one!
Recruiting your own kid to bludgeon someone, then bringing the gasoline yourself for said offspring to use… I think that was quite literally the nail in her coffin.👍🏻. 🌈🇨🇦☮️
Great episode! Thank you so much for sharing.
I could listen to Danny forever
Heinous doesn't even begin to describe such an evil crime. It doesn't bear thinking about that such lowlife scums walk amongst us.
Thank goodness for such hardworking, competent and dedicated police officers like Danny!!!
Lol I love the subtle sexism about how “we couldn’t catch a 35 yr old woman for crying out loud” with emphasis on her being a woman.
Podcasts suck!!!! I want
Re-enactments and video
white supremacists? give me a break, when will you label someone a black supremacists? because ive seen a bunch of em.
Please cover the case of Katherine Janness or (Katie). The woman and her dog who were stabbed to death. She was stabbed 50 PLUS times and mutilated inside Piedmont park, Atlanta GA on July 28th 2021. Her story needs more coverage asap. Please use your platform.
Meet the victims family and see if you want to say " your child's case is my favourite " makes u think how sick your statement is love
Love seeing a "man's man" share his feelings, emotions and his mental trauma. Too often we tell men not to share their feelings, and it was probably truly difficult for him to share his. It was raw and my favourite part.
I wish I could write a book
Great video, I would just like to say, people usually say ‘skinhead’ when they really mean ‘bonehead’ common mistake even from boneheads themselves. Skinhead is from the ska and skanking movement 🎵 boneheads are the racists ✌🏻
Thank you for talking so openly about PTSD 💖
CA Cops have history of Incompetence going back to 1930s!! Nothing has changed!
Why were so busy chasing The Embreds? Why didn’t you get in touch with his Legal Wife? cA cops have history of Incompetence going back to 1930s!
I read it was his Wife whom he was separated from that filed Missing Person Report for William Whiteside not The Fat Blob!
Ana i love your crime videos! Also, Beautiful Picture of the Bird in your front room. Thank you for your hard work. 🌺
Danny, you are AMAZING!!!! Thank you so very much for dedicating your entire being to protect and serve us all 🤗 You are my Hero😊 Best, Maegan
With regard to why Valerie got the death penalty, isn't there a law that's known in some legal circles as the, "But for" law? In other words, in this case it's a pretty direct one. And what it's basically would say is this: "But for" Valerie, there would be no crime.. if not for Valerie needing $300 she didn't have and willing to go to any lengths, in other words the length of having her own child and other minors commit a murder and robbery on her behalf…. Probably William would not have died. What gets me is the guy drove out to the desert to do the kid a favor or what he thinks is doing the kid a favor. Entitled little murderous shit. No good deed goes unpunished
Bill Whiteside was my cousin by marriage. We used to spend our hoidays together because Bill's wife was my wife's closest family. I testified at the victim's impact phase of the trial about having to tell my son that his favorite uncle was murdered and how Bill's mother collapsed at his funeral and had to be carried away in an ambulance. When Bill was fist missing, I advised my cousin to call the phone company to find out where and when the last call was made and to preserve the phone records. I also advised her to call his credit card company to see if there were any recent purchases. She went to the bank and the manager told her that there had been a recent ATM withdrawal and that they had a video. They had the film of Valerie's son making an ATM withdrawal after Bill's murder. Bill was in the trunk of his car at the police impound for eleven days before his body was found.
Valerie deserved the death penalty. She brought the gasoline and started the fire that killed Bill. Running from the investigators demonstrated consciousness of guilt. Afterwards, they tried to pin Bill's disappearance on my wife's cousin, They were living in Bill's house after the murder and had no plans to leave. Not to mention their demeanor in the courtroom, either. The case took six years before going to trial. Chris Kennedy also deserved the death penalty. The daughter he choked when she was an infant saved him from the death penalty with her plea to the jury not to kill her daddy. Another possible factor was the fact that by burning Bill to death, the beatings that would have killed him in another hour did not cause his death first. Bill attempted to escape from the trunk two times before his car was set on fire. Valerie's son had "MM"' tattooed on his neck to show that he killed someone of another race. I was told that he stabbed three people in jail waiting for his trial. He and Chris must never be released from prison. None of the defendants were good people, Brad Zoda was given leniency because of his age and because he testified against the other three. I heard that his brother was shot when a hit went out from prison for him and they mistook Brad's brother for Brad.
Bill's father was black and his mother was Cherokee. He was a good guy and didn't deserve this. He had one son who I met during the trial – a very nice a polite guy just like Bill. Bill's mother was too overcome by emotion to testify in the victim's impact phase of the trial. My wife's cousin also suffered badly from this crime. Imagine yourself in her shoes. After their seperation, the fist person Bill takes up with murdered him. Bill met her at work. Nobody ever recovers from a loved one being murdered. This was a senseless and horrible murder that should have never happened. None of them deserve your sympathy. Bill Whiteside did not drink, smoke or use drugs. He was a hard worker and a good citizen. Bill Whiteside was a blue collar guy who would arrive to work early and stay late if needed. He was a good guy. He didn't deserve this.
plot twist: her son is a skinhead nick named "Ray Ray".
Ana Garcia is sooooo dang pretty 😍
Thk you Anna, we appreciate your hard work hun ❤️
Should it take a lot to sentence someone to death? Like California?Do you trust the government enough to sentence someone to death?
Listening to Danny, I am so thankful for all detectives that. Work so hard and put so much heart and soul to what is obviously a calling not just a job. Heartfelt thanks to them all. His truth and honesty was humbling 🙏 thank you
It involves 'white supremacists' Then it is crap.
